I googled and found this:

"It's... different." I said. "I didn't know people did this."
"I can't believe you've never heard of this," said Roshii. "Everyone knows about Goldshire Inn on Moonguard."
I wondered, how do people find out about these things? I can't imagine that it's written up on any popular websites anywhere.
It must be one of those secret dirty things that everyone seems to know about, but nobody talks openly about.

And now I wonder how I actually originally found out about where to stay away from in FFXIV.

I had an FC mate that just tried to transfer to balmung idk if worked..but they claim it was strictly to see if the ERP rumors are true..idk why they didn't just make an alt but -shrug-

Because it's been impossible for years by now to create any new characters on Balmung. The server is 100% full, the only way to actually get on it is by paying for a transfer (although there are rumours it is indeed possible for a few seconds to create a character right after maintenance ends.. )

Not entirely. Just people shouting for replacements for Savage runs and the overcrowded bird roost behind that newly placed stone.

I was on Balmung/Besaid from 1.0 until about a year ago. I couldn't stand the RP PFs up all the time because I'm not into it, and then I thought about how silly it was that I was on the unofficial RP server when I don't RP at all. So I moved to Gilgamesh because endgame stuff is more my style. I wish I had a house but that's really the only problem I have with it. Balmung is Balmung. Best to take anything that comes from there with a grain of salt.
