I agree with you about statistics and that if players want to learn they will, HOWEVER, while fate levelling people still get an awareness of what skills they have, even if people don't use a skill they still tend to look at it when they get it and go "neat". Jump potion will mean that players won't look at all of their skills because they are all given at once, even PotD allows players to look at their skills individually within the space of a few hours.

This is my worry moving forward, I found it a slight inconvenience when I first got the new jobs to have to sit down for 10-20mins and work out what the skills did and how they fit together (it helped that most of the skills mirrored other jobs - like my thought process of DRK was "thats goes in the rampart slot, that goes in the sentinel slot, that goes in the basic combo slot"), but it will get worse with jobs being released at 50, and players using jump potion. A lot of skills will get ignored, because players simply haven't looked.

Feel free to disagree and say that that isn't a big deal for you, but it is something that the game hasn't dealt with before post level 30.

How are they aware? Skills appear on their hotbars and chances are they are never used or looked at while FATE grinding. Getting your skills slowly means nothing if you don't look at them and getting them all at once is not a detriment if you look them over and practice. Leveling isn't the catalyst to understanding your class/job here, it is learning and practice and that is carried by the individual, independent of leveling.

What do you mean "this isn't something the game as dealt with before"? Not sure I understand what you are referring to there.

If it took you 20 minutes to figure out level 30 DRK, then yes, you will have serious trouble with a boosted job. But, many of us have no issues reading a tooltip and putting a skill into practice. The boost won't be an issue at all for most.

10-20mins is hyperbole, and should be read as such (though you shouldn't have chosen the upper value to complain about), there is no problem with getting all the skills at 30, but it was a demonstration as to why it might be a problem when you jump to 50 or 60 (where it will take 10-20mins at least to figure out the entire job correctly - or incorrectly if you don't). It's not just about learning what skills do, but also how they interact with each other. Class quests give some context to mechanics like ninjitsu and draw that someone going in fresh may not necessarily understand, and skills may be ignored and shuffled into menus that players may never access. So yes, even levelling through fates and PotD gives players a better learning experience than jump potion, because skills are a reward for levelling, that are clearly displayed one at a time.

Has the game dealt with players getting all their skills at once as part of major progression? Post level 30 of course.

AST, MCH and DRK would like to have a word with you.

This whole stigma against learning a job regardless of what level it is that isn't 1, is starting to get old and annoying. It is practically a cliche at this point that someone is gonna cause an upheaval over the fact that players have access to more than a single skill at Lv-whatever. There are going to be people having issues with skills regardless of if they start at Lv1 and level upwards or start at Lv50 and level upwards from there. Read your tooltips or ask around, this is an MMO, if you are going to say the game making you ask other people for help is against the point of the game, you are sorely mistaken.

True, but that doesn't mean people can't draw lines from what happened with MCH, DRK and AST. I've seen plenty of people still know the basics of those jobs even though they started at 30. A 20 level jump isn't all that much, what is it a difference in? You would be learning 22 skills and how they work with each other before going into your first dungeon to use them, then you learn even more onwards from that between 51 and 70.

I already had a word with them.

Edit: Looking at RDM specifically, it looks to have a lot of unique things that don't mirror other jobs (hopefully), so I would need to invest more time into learning it outside of group content, and concentrating on how the job works (whereas a lot of people just jump in and play, and we don't know how that will work out).

Then if you already stated that, it's basically the same?

"That goes into Death-immunity slot" on tanks, "That goes into physical/magical buff that needs to be up 100% of the time slot" on DPS, "That goes into mega-potency instant heal slot" on healers. You could mirror that regardless of whatever job you are playing. We are going to be seeing a lot of mirroring regardless of how you like considering Yoshi wants all jobs to be viable for any type of content, but that's a discussion for another day.
