    I understand where this line of thinking is coming from and I think it would be quite fair to offer free trial up to a certain level then ask for payment if they wish to keep playing. Player gets to evaluate if they like it and SE gets the money they deserve for the work they have put into their product.

    Yeah, I'm a real fan of this idea. It's basically the way trial periods work in Aion, IIRC
