Frontlines gives 20 scripture whether you win or lose and the queue time is less than 5 minutes due to the Garo event.I wasnt clear I guess.
How many times do you have to do PvP to cap?
How long is your wait time each time to get into said PvP?
Now with those questions out of the way, if youre trying to get tomes out of the way, so you can say, farm up a relic, will you want to do PvP to cap tomes, or queue up for expert?
Consider only wanting to get tomes out of the way, so you can do something else.
Basically what i was trying to say, is there arent a lot of options that arent significantly more time consuming in relation to expert roulette to obtain tomes, if one is trying to focus on something that doesnt give tomes.
If you're wanting to do it as quickly as possible, it's better than spamming dungeons. Doing expert once in a day is more leisurely though.

Yeah i get that you can get scripture from PvP i'm not trying to do PvP. I'm trying to do something else.
If i was trying to cap tomes and focusing on doing PvP I would be having a blast. In fact there was a point in time that I was doing this and was having a blast and telling everyone to do PvP instead of Expert Roulette, cause.... expert roulette sucks.
The thing is, if all you want to do is get tomes out of the way (because they are such a throw away item) so you can get to something you do enjoy, that perhaps doesnt give tomes, the "fastest" way to go about it is expert roulette, which equates to 4-5 times a week, for 15-30 minutes per queue+wait. Youre telling me I can get more tomes doing pvp faster than that? If so thank you so much, I will sign back in, re-subscribe and start doing PvP again.
But... then...
what happens after this "Garo" event of which you speak? Its right back to expert roulette again right?
Oh... another thing, is the wait times for PvP right now 5 minutes or less (as you stated) in the morning? Because I play in the morning, not at night or "peak" because I work during "peak" times.

Whoa when did this thread get resurrected, funny I was just thinking about this thread while farming scripture today. About 3 weeks into my return to the game and I'm already starting to get annoyed with it. I really wish there were more ways to get gear in this game but the rate at which gear becomes irrelevant ilvl wise would make more gear sets per patch a huge development strain and they probably know it.
Hopefully stormblood changes it up.

LOL totally thought you quit the game.Whoa when did this thread get resurrected, funny I was just thinking about this thread while farming scripture today. Im the necromancer of your thread.
I raised it because of my thread, and the backlash i'm getting on it.
here
You have any tips? Maybe not cause you said you are also already frustrated. I am not sure why tomes dont just flow into our pockets. I mean Everything should give tomes, Golden Saucer, Leves, quests even! (thats a joke but seriously.)
Tomes dont even allow you to get max level gear so why not right? Its a means to getting to "actual endgame" so whats with all the locks? I dont mind the 24 man raid lock, nor do i mind the 8 man raid locks (cap gear, not story mode. Story mode locks are absurd.)
If it were me, I'd unlock tomes, make them easier to get from a larger variety of content, but lock extreme primals/trials, and make raiding gear customizable. Thats just me. Everyone else seems to sorely disagree though, no clue why.

Incorrect. You made the assumption that I was defending this trash tier tome grind. I've been complaining about tomes, tome cap, and tome grinding since prior to roulettes even existing, when we were forced to brainlessly spam Amdapor Keep. There are not enough ways to cap, and if you're subjecting yourself to relic, you're stuck in ARF and a1s.
As to your questions, pvp queues are 1-30 seconds, and if you do pvp roulette daily, that's 280 10minute scrip, with 20 scrip per after, so another 8-9 matches to cap. Win or lose, you still get scrip.
Meanwhile, in auto-pilot "Expert" you risk getting one or more Captain i200 weapon who turn the 15-20 minute run into an hour. Which happens every time unless you're full premade.
Yoshi gets his time out of you one way or another.
So here's my question.
Why should I put in the effort to grind for tomes and gears, when I could just wait, not play the game, and then be rewarded for that 3 months down the line when I can get everything I want for less effort?
I could make my brain bleed from trying to get a tome weapon within 7 weeks, OR I could NOT do it, use the grinding time to play something more fun, and later down the line, spend little to no effort to get that same item.
I feel no incentive to work towards something, when that something is quickly invalidated or becomes meaningless pretty quickly.
When I'm being rewarded for not playing the game, that is what I will do.

Haha oh how I missed this thread.
I stopped caring about hardcore gear and just get whatever, whenever I feel like it. There is no motivation to go all out and gear myself up, for why? To do roulettes faster? Yea there is no incentive for me either to get this tome gear (or any for that matter) cuz it just gets replaced so quickly. Ironically I did end up doing the new savage, but the whole time I just did it outta 100% pure boredom, not because I wanted an item...![]()

More than anything else, it's the weekly cap that kills me. I understand why it's there and I wish I could offer a better solution, but it's such a bummer trying to gear up multiple jobs.

Ya, I'd remove caps in a heartbeat and like you said, make it so just about everything you do at capped lvl gives relevant tomes. This makes it so people can do whatever they want when they want and play multiple jobs.
I still think tomes is not enough though and ppl complain when dungeon gear is a relevant ilvl (cause its too easy) so I honestly don't even know why they bother with dungeon gear anymore, its a waste of resources. Make more relevant endgame ilvl gear instead. Have dungeons drop crafting supplies for crafting relevant ilvl gear or something at endgame.
Don't have any tips really. Been doing palace of the derp to get the new ilvl weapon and its somewhat helping cap tomes but palace of the derp is not fun at all. After i get the weapons I need I'd probably avoid it like the plague and be stuck with nothing fun to do but dun scaithe or EX primals again.

For me tomes are a by product of doing other things. I don't even have to try for tomes, I just take advantage of what the game has to offer...potd, extremes, 24 man raids, maps, etc etc and I cap so quick I usually don't even notice I did.
Not to sound snarky but if some people spent more time taking advantage of what the game has to offer and less time complaining on the forums getting tomes likely wouldn't be an issue. If you play the game for the content tome gear is literally just free, handed to you gear. Nothing special, nothing worth showing off. Just free gear.
I just wish there were less lockouts or tomes were by job, so you would earn x points toward drg gear when you play drg for instance. It should also be supplemental until you get raid gear, not equal to.
