The real question is whether or not they'd get twice as many subscriptions just for charging half as much. Of course more of us would pay if it were lower, but unless the retention ratio scales with the price it's a worthless move to SE.

Well 6.50 is half of 13. People say this is a "half completed game" Yoshi-p said this game is @ 50% completion when 1.19 was Launch so we be even closer to that mark when 1.20 launches before the billing Cycle.
So if any Compromise were to happen, I say 7 bucks which is a little over half the price ( but the game will be over half come 1.20), Which sounds reasonable, for the people that are concerned for " Bang for the buck" statement.
I've said it before - I'll say it again - I would definitely continue my sub if I got a combined rate discount for subbing to XI as well. If instead they only charged $5-$7 for XIV - I would certainly retain my sub. I just don't play enough to justify paying 12 bucks, especially when I am already paying that for XI (and I am pretty sure all THAT sub money is paying for XIV)
Same. I'm still paying for the full price but I'd imagine a halved sub rate is most importantly good PR for the company. You'll not only have a higher sub retention rate, but you'll still have a decent chance of getting return players (or new players) if you reduce the sub rate down to something that's $7. Like I said before, word of mouth is the most important part of bringing XIV to an accepted status in the game industry, and having a good bang for buck sub deal until the full game is out IMO is a step in the right direction.

You know, ill agree to this. I mean if you think about it its only fair.... they have half completed game (as stated by yoshi himself) But they need funding (which i dont entirely buy but ok thats fine) So half a sub a month is fair in my eyes.
Same. I'm unwilling to pay $12 but I'd pay $5-7 dollars and I'd like a cash shop that would do stuff like change hairstyles/haircolor etc... I'd definitely pay $1 for an extra retainer ><;
Personally I hope they stick to their guns and go ahead with the full price. I don't think you guys genuinely understand the gravity of the situation and the simple fact is most gamers are all talk and will pony up if they have to.
I think by doing this they keep at least 60% of their player base AND have a dedicated playerbase come 2.0 I think once the 2.0 launches in OCT for Pc THATS when they should charging full price.
I am going to pay, even if it is the full price.
However, as I said before .. the smart thing would be to charge something like $5 after 1.20, $10 after 1.21 and full after 1.22.
Why in the world would anyone on a budget want to pay 12 bucks a month for this game when there are other options like Star Wars, Guild Wars II, and Diablo III out there?
