The Chinese and Korean versions are published by other companies, so I assume there is some kind of legal stuff happening (like "Hey, we give you money for your gear design, so let us use it in our international version too") and that's why the outfits aren't for free but in the cash shop right away. Or it has to do with the fact that the outfits aren't for free in the Chinese/Korean versions either, so they can't give them to us just like that.

Not saying I like it like that..xD Just that it kind of makes sense.

True.. if our FFXIV crew didnt make them and had to buy the designs they wouldn't want to give them away for free. Booo /cry lol

That scroll could be a neat deviation to the arcanist weapons though :3.. Magical scroll that you float and open / close above hand and then rest by your side like two cute paper nunchucks. hehe.

I have totally wanted that for a while now >.<
I think I'm nearing my daily post cap limit, but I'll go ahead and take it over to the glamour gear suggestion thread anyways xD
MCH got it's handgun, MNK it's bare fists, PLD it's shieldless look, now it's time for some scrolls for SCH
(unless SB gives us a new class that uses scrolls as a weapon, as unlikely as it may be)

Robes ARE the traditional style for mages in FF and many other media, so this should hardly be surprising. And even if it is, I find enough variation in healer gear that I only see the really voluminous robes rotate into my glamour very rarely (such as currently, when I was going for a Miko/priestly look). Of course, if longish coats similarly offend your aesthetic sensibilities, then you really are mostly out of luck I guess.
I don't mind there being a large selection of robes/coats but it would be nice if we had at least half that number of options for non-pseudo-dress armor. And it's not just mages. While mages do get saddled with the bulk of pseudo-dress armor, all the classes seem to suffer from an over abundance of it. A few more options (for all classes) that aren't dresses can't hurt, and would probably up the diversity of glamours we see. Many people trying to escape the deluge of pseudo-dresses end up wearing the same stuff because the selection of non-pseudo-dress armor is so limited at the moment.

How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?

Do we play the same game? If you're not a mage, most of your sets are of the Non-Robe Non-Long-Coat variety. Some kilts and capes now and then, but still.

I guess we aren't playing the same game because while in the lower levels the DoW tend to have more non-pseudo-dress options, those become less and less the higher you go with more tunic type armor or outright pseudo-dress plate dominating the endgame gear. Just look at the armorer recipe list in the lvl 56-60 section. Every crafted body piece there goes far enough below the waist to be almost dress-like or has an outright skirt attached to it. Every. Single. One. Same can be said for the Heavens Ward (1) section. Things get a bit better in the Heavens Ward (2) section where the crafted gear has a fair number of non-dress-like armor options.

Most of the DoW chest options from Lore are dress-like too. It's slightly better with Scripture but still more tunics and in a couple cases pseudo-dresses.

Maybe what I consider "dress-like" is too broad a category, but would it kill SE to give us a few more options that don't have skirts/sashes/dangly bits going below the waist? Lower level DoW chest options like the Steel Cuirass are nice cause they aren't dangling down to your knees with skirts/embellishments/pseudo-dress-nonsense. Even the Thancred Modish outfit suffers from this. The body piece would be absolutely perfect if not for those green segments of cloth hanging from the sides for no apparent reason.

I'm not saying SE should stop making the pseudo-dress armor... just that it would be nice for a few more non-longcoat-longtunic-pseudo-dress armor options (for all classes, not just DoW) to be thrown into the mix. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Let's hope that's all from DBZ that translates into it for FFXIV. Otherwise no one on Balmung would be able to ride it. We'd all fall through.

I think its cool to show history of something, like showing people DBZ's heavy leanings on Journey to the West, but if someone references something like Nimbus and we all know what they mean is it really incorrect? This isn't like calling a car a bike, this is like multiple names and variations developing over time. And it might even make more sense to reference the DBZ version over the birth version as if I recall correctly Wukong's cloud is more like a technique he knows to ride clouds, it's not really a specific cloud. While if we got a mount it would most likely, and more easily be explained via lore, a very specific cloud (like in the DBZ universe). I do believe the Japanese version uses the original/partner culture name but for English speakers none would know and none would be incorrect for using the name they were given by the studio. It IS nimbus now (for English DBZ at least), even if in another language it's not.

Would be a bit like telling SE they screwed up because they called it Kirin instead of Qilin. Or if vampire in another language was dope, and in English it was vampire - but now we have to call it dope even though we're playing a translated game. It could legitimately still be called a vampire without issue, even if using the original word may add more flare or history to the idea. I mean to say that forcing people to call it Kinto'un is both ignoring localization as cannon, might as well just not even respect anyone who plays in a different language than creator, and also an issue that Nimbus is actually specific variation of the original Wukong technique - so using nimbus transfers more information than kinto'un, and in this scenario that more information gives us a clearer picture of what they wanted.

All that said, the original names would probably be cooler and cause people to learn more than if SE just whipped out a "nimbus" and ooo ahh.. less neat lol. Also we have harry potter now so, yeah nimbus.. 2000? Xd
