I remember reading/watching from somewhere that elezens were split into 3 different variance wildwood, duskwight and ishgardian? So shouldn't we have 3 instead of 2 variants? Pls educate meThats true, from a pure gameplay perspective, it wouldnt make much sense to start in ishgard. Everything around you is lvl 30+
From the lore side, it wouldnt make any sense either. When you pick your starting city, you dont pick your characters hometown, but rather the first town they came to on their journey as mercenary. For all we know, the WoL might be an Ishgardian from the brume that traveled to Ul'dah to earn a living.
Ishgard is closed to visitors until you as the WoL open their eyes and make them realize they need help. The ishgardianss tolerate your presence in the region of Coerthas but wont let you in the city itself until you save it from a huge dragon.![]()
Do you have a source for that? I've never heard of anything like that... >o>
Ishgardian Elezen are just Wildwoods who traveled north to Coerthas.
To quote the Lorebook, from the Wildwood Elezen passage:
"Though nowadays, "Wildwood" is typically used to refer to the forest-dwelling Elezen, the Elezen of Ishgard too, share the same common ancestry."

So basically the ishgardian elezens are wildwoods?Do you have a source for that? I've never heard of anything like that... >o>

Yep.
It works like this:
During the First Astral Era, Elezen were the first to inhabit Eorzea, living in its vast plains. Hyurs came and started to take over, so the Elezen left, some going north to Coerthas, forming Ishgard, and some going to the Shroud, forming Gelmora. From the Gelmora Elezen, some of them went underground, becoming the Duskwights, while those who stayed on the surface would eventually form Gridania with the Hyurs.
Except for the Astral Era part, this is essentially correct - the above happened early in the Sixth Astral Era (which lasted nearly 1600 years).Yep.

Even then the above series of events is from the Sixth Astral Era. The various movements and migrations of the various races in Eorzea becomes less and less certain the further back you go, to where anything prior to the Third Astral Era has very little information, and the First Astral Era has almost none available.
That being said, the Elezen do believe they were the first, but that's largely based on their status at the start of the Sixth Astral Era.
