I don't believe that for a second. I'm pretty sure there's a silent majority of people who won't be paying who don't show up on these forums, either. I'd go as far to say that most people won't even notice they can't log in anymore once the subscription plan resumes, and fan sites will be fielding the reoccurring "I can't log into my FF14 account" threads for months.

He's implying that since X-2 was not well received and was kinda mocked, that XIV will follow down the same path.

No...lol...7UPs are the ones that are going to wait until 2.0 to play the game again. The reference is that Version 2 is the beginning of the 7th Umbral Era, so its the 7th Umbral Players, therefore they are the 7UPs.

To these whole discussions everywhere on the forum:

It will continue as it was til now. The job system will be in 1.21 in february and many are looking forward for this. But why should it be in SE's interest, if the players are ready to pay? If only one person is ready to pay and keeps playing - they earn more than now! The only important thing is, that the 7UPs return into the game with 2.0. But I don't think they can wait that long if they played the game so far.
And I'm sure SE will improve the game til and with 2.0 release. All they need to do is PR and learn from the mistake they did a year ago. And the ones which continue with playing may enjoy the new patches and the storyline. That's all to say.

Imo is FFXIV a great game with much potential and SE is doing the right thing to make this game awesome.

I never got that much hype and fun I got with FFXIV and every patch until now.
