RDM is a Caster, SAM is either a Tank or a DPS, and DNC doesn't exist.

There is no guarantee or requirement that we have 3 jobs, nor do they necessarily need to include a Tank or Healer at all. We'll know in twenty days, though.

People are getting BLU from that because of the whole *man is bitten by spider, gains powers of spider* theme fitting blue mage pretty spot on.

Samurai was acknowledged as something people wanted, but not guaranteed for the expansion. People still made the reach with the spider man thing, because the director for the original film was Sam Raimi, which sounds phonetically similar to Samurai if you say it really fast

Given that SAM files are in the game and BLU files are not, it would seem the folks who picked up on the nearly identical way Sam Raimi is written in katakana to the job Samurai weren't reaching so hard after all.

I don't agree with this. The files having SAM in them is not proof of anything really. Especially considering that SAM had been intended to be put in instead of DRK, but they decided against it because they had just released NIN not long before.

Yoshi-P's hints are much more direct. DRK was Batman... the Dark Knight. MCH was 007. RDM was the Scarlet Witch.

So the meaning behind the Spiderman shirt is going to be much more direct than an obscure reference to the director of a few movies involving Spiderman, IMO. BLU seems much more likely, especially considering the New Year's message and the fact that a hero who is bitten by a spider gains that spider's powers. Something that is much more direct a reference.

And Yoshi wasn't wearing the Samurai version of Spiderman on his shirt. I do think Samurai will be added this expansion, I just don't see Spiderman being a reference to it.

However, let's try this from another angle...

What super hero would you use to drop an -obvious- hint referencing Blue Mage, if not Spiderman? I'm curious what the alternatives are, since Samurai's alternatives get brought up plenty enough.

The Samurai Spiderman is just a figure made by Bandai. They made a Samurai Batman too.

The festival you are referring to in Japan is one of making Samurai spiders (a type of real life spider) fight. Zero reference to Spiderman.

The files don't mean anything, and are ridiculously suspicious that they would be added in 3.5.

No one is going to argue the point that Blue Mage is the obvious choice for a Spiderman Hint. There are plenty of more obvious choices for Samurai. Silver Samurai, anyone? So, yes, the Sam Raimi thing is reaching. Very bad reaching at that. The shirts have all been pretty obvious from the get go. If the Spiderman references Samurai, we will have an example of the exception.

I hear this nonsense constantly, but nobody has ever actually produced substantive evidence that it ever happened, much less that it was intentional "trolling".

Tanks are always the shortage in queues, everyone knows this. Imagine the bottleneck in the duty finder if they release a new dps and new healer with no new tank.

Unfortunately, the imgur album that contained those datamined icons has since been deleted, its source being a reddit datamining thread on the 3.15 relic files.

The first set of images were the icons for the second model of the anima weapon, obtained after finishing the step with the 80 unidentified items. The book icon was just a simple book, similar to the icon used by the book obtained with centurio/allied seals. The rainbow elixir was an elixir-like icon with rainbow-like colors, and the "New Atma? 1" and "New Atma? 2" icons were black and white versions of the 2.x atma icons.

It's not definitive proof anymore, due to the lacking images, but it's something that has happened, as those books, atmas and the rainbow elixir have never been used ingame.
