The Samurai Spiderman is just a figure made by Bandai. They made a Samurai Batman too.

The festival you are referring to in Japan is one of making Samurai spiders (a type of real life spider) fight. Zero reference to Spiderman.

The files don't mean anything, and are ridiculously suspicious that they would be added in 3.5.


As I said, Yoshi-P's shirts have always been very direct, so it makes very little sense for him to make an extremely obscure reference.

Given that SAM files are in the game and BLU files are not, it would seem the folks who picked up on the nearly identical way Sam Raimi is written in katakana to the job Samurai weren't reaching so hard after all.

No one is going to argue the point that Blue Mage is the obvious choice for a Spiderman Hint. There are plenty of more obvious choices for Samurai. Silver Samurai, anyone? So, yes, the Sam Raimi thing is reaching. Very bad reaching at that. The shirts have all been pretty obvious from the get go. If the Spiderman references Samurai, we will have an example of the exception.

There is no guarantee or requirement that we have 3 jobs, nor do they necessarily need to include a Tank or Healer at all.

There is not guarantee, yes, but I think you'll find that if RDM is the only new class, it's going to completely wreck DF ques. It'd be a better balance to release a new tank or healer class for players who like playing those roles. RDM is already so popular that I imagine ques at the launch of stormblood will be pretty abysmal, even if they add a new tank or healer.

Still wondering where people in this thread are getting dancer from.

There will be only two jobs from what we have seen. He always hints at what will be revealed by what shirt he's wearing at the fanfest before.

At the fanfest before the RDM reveal he wore a Scarlet Witch shirt. At the fanfest of the RDM reveal, he wore a spiderman shirt.

People are getting BLU from that because of the whole *man is bitten by spider, gains powers of spider* theme fitting blue mage pretty spot on.

Samurai was acknowledged as something people wanted, but not guaranteed for the expansion. People still made the reach with the spider man thing, because the director for the original film was Sam Raimi, which sounds phonetically similar to Samurai if you say it really fast

Anyone would be an acceptable assumption, though i have to go with the samurai one based on some past in game conversations(mainly the rising event when both Redmage and Samurai were literally named by eorzea Yoshi-P)
