I decided to try to make a Zurvan Ex learning party.. I was on SCH, friend on NIN, and I asked for one non-SCH healer, one tank, one tank or DPS, and 3 DPS. I put in the description that I didn't care if we saw soar, as long as people understood the mechanic, and to know at least to meteors. We ended up with a WHM, one tank, and four unique DPS, so I figured we'd pass soar.

First two wipes, we dropped down at ~84% then had multiple people die to soar (including WHM), so we would wipe it. Third try, I asked the WHM to stack with me and the tank where it was safe (he said he had been in a party that asked him to go elsewhere), and we managed to make it through. One DPS and the WHM died right before the add phase, but I got the WHM and he got the DRG, so I figured we were good to go and started to DPS. Sadly, the tank hit the dirt soon after, WHM raised him, then he died again.. so we wiped. One DPS left so I just broke the party and left it there.

The worst part was realizing that the DRG's rotation included fracture (he used it as much as he used true thrust!), but not heavy thrust or phlebotomize.. and that apparently the WHM was focus single target healing on himself/the DRG/me and not the tank at all in the add phase. I guess I should have let him know that I was planning on DPSing add phase while he/the fairy was on main healing.. but he apparently wasn't even using his regens during the fight.

If it wasn't for the Yeti fight, I would love Snowcloak but what you describes happens to me nearly every time I run it.

That is the one thing I do despise as well, otherwise its a nice quick level 50 dungeon. Had one tank who would take it to the wall and face him out leaving an impossibly small area. Despite all 3 of us telling him to turn it around.

Ugh, bad night last night for me. Every instance I ran was one nightmare after the other. Also didn't help that I was already irritated due to some botched synthesis.

Leveling roulette took me into Cutter's Cry. Interesting thing about this dungeon is you can tell how the Chimera fight is going to go based on how the group performs throughout the dungeon. The reason being is because if they can't avoid the obvious telegraphs, then you can be rest assured they will eat every single one of Chimera's voices.

I needed one more dungeon to unlock 50 roulette, which was Wanderer's Palace hard. As usual I say I am new to the instance, and I knew they didn't care when they would constantly run ahead before I loaded in throughout the dungeon. Nothing I can't deal with as a healer, but it lets me know what kind of group I have. That said, I take full blame for the ensuing wipe at the final boss. I should have just skipped the cut scene knowing what kind of group I had. I still cut it short when I saw the barrier close off message. The group had already taken a moderate amount of damage, and I wasn't entirely aware of the doom mechanic. The tank HP suddenly hits 0, and everyone else dies soon after as I already burned up my swiftcast on a divine seal+Medica.

They immediately look at me and say, "Can we get heals please?" Already irritated, I ask them why on earth would you run ahead into the final boss fight and leave your healer behind? Did I not mention I was new? Is it that hard to make sure the new player is entirely aware of the fight? The response was, "Shouldn't have to, you can look up a guide."
My response: "OK, I am going to look it up right now. You can vote kick me if you would like, but this is going to take a few minutes." Then one of the DPS was nice enough to say that a player needs to be healed to full to remove doom. THANK YOU!! 3 seconds was all it took to make sure the new healer knows the main mechanic of the fight.

Expect what? From a PUG? A PUG, man!!!!

I too love to get good mates but on DF you can only expect random people

As the ones I got today, a PLD that told me to shut up when I asked to please flash a little more often (he were doing it only once at start and sometime neither that) and put on at least sword oath (lv 37).

It's all about the culture. If our community culture fostered personal responsibility for playing well, we'd be better off. As it is, we have a culture of "You don't pay my sub". Sadface.

See when i'm on scholar I love a paladin that tosses out protects. Saves me that little bit of mp And in some parties I've been in that makes a massive difference. When I'm constantly raising People that fall off on sophia for example my mp takes a real beating so it's very much appreciated if a paladin tosses up protect on recently raised people before a wave of cintimanis. hits.

As a paladin I can also say protect is one of the best cross class choices you can make.

I think on that cases the Protect is least of your party problems

I think some who read my post may confuse it as like "IF YOU DONT PLAY LIKE A FIXED RAID PARTY 9 TO 5, WITH XXXX DPS, THEN GET OUT", I don't expect perfection or even near it..

But I read people talking about BLM who only cast blizzard and stuff like that. I'm sorry but even if it's a PUG there is a certain level of respect that should be offered to other people's time and sanity lol. (Agreeing to you, at least if you mean in a polite way to foster personal responsibility - no name calling/yelling :P). Like it's not just about you. I'm used to people messing up rotations or wiping occasional not a big deal, but if you're purposefully playing significantly poorly then you're purposefully being disrespectful - even if its PUG time it is still not just "your time" (and I'm not using time to insinuate speed runs, just valuing other player's time and respecting it).

I guess I don't think its good for the community to be that accepting. Although I am concerned about people who yell at others because they didn't do the proper 4 3 1 2 3 4 23 32 2 rotation instead of a slightly different one that still does at least some damage. I generally agree with LalaRu but I think to the extent that they're accepting would just encourage significantly bad players - like I know I allow and make little issue about making mistakes, wrong ability or whatever - oh well it's a game, but I guess I've been lucky and rarely see people who willfully play without regards of others. I'm actually impressed how low people's standards are, like suuupppeerrr low - and then again realize I must generally be lucky.

I've never seen a BLM only cast blizzard thankfully, and I would politely ask them to switch it up and talk about the job a little if they wanted some info (hopefully someone else there too cause I only know flare combos, only level 50), but if they ignored it or got catty about knowing their job at that point I'd no longer see them as a valuable member of the team, I wouldn't spend much energy trying to keep them alive as other members who are trying. And I get that people are learning, new to dungeons, stressed, perhaps just not that fast or even may have disabilities, although the only two disability people I know are actually very good lol. They've set up many ways to ensure they're not seen as a burden, so you'd never know if you didn't know them.

For those who try I have a very high tolerance, but if you're going to be like "yeah no I'm not even trying, watch me not play", please understand priority for keeping you on up time just hit .01 lol.

Ran Mocianne's for first time, took along a friend who is learning how to tank and an FC member.

We make it clear that it's her first tanking 60 dungeon. Bad pull in the bee area. No biggie, only wipe. Then, the PUG summoner speaks; 'do ur jobs...' After asking what she meant, she starts ranting at tank for not knowing the pulls by heart. We kindly ask her to stop complaining and give advice if she could. But no, during the boss pull, constant complaining, no DPSing whatsoever, only 'nice atking an invul noob'.

At that point we had enough. If she joined the queue to sit around and complain, then we were gonna kick her. Thus, she left, we 3 manned the rest.

After we finished, we were all treated to a /tell, calling us... ''poop'', 'scum of humanity' and that she had 'cleaned the dungeon of our ''poop'' by the time it took us to leave, not like we 3 manned it or anything. So, we put in a ticket.

    What the worst part?

    She was a mentor.

    Think that speaks for itself.
