I'll see if I can find the source, but I remember a while back it was said that Diabolos would get a trial of his own. Though it could be another scrapped promise, like how we were supposed to see more of Odin, but have not.

Well, Diabolos didn't die at the end, he was vanquished back into the Void. So, yeah, expect more of him.
I don't think he was sent back to the void actually.
I could have sworn at the end, they used the nullstone to completely unmake him, I'm pretty sure he's gone for good.

Didn't he say something like "I'll be back, you meddling kids!"
EDIT: You're right, just went to watch the cutscene. He is indeed unmade. Gone. Poof.
The only way I can think of to salvage it would be, since Diabolos is a master of darkness and shadow etc. That wasn't actually him, he swapped places with his shadow at the very last second and now he's back and this time he's for realzies.
Now that Mhach / Dun Scaith hve been cleared maybe some nation might try to renovate them and establishe new cities in it ?
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
