Collectors edition price revelead

The Dragon mount figure was also "good looking" back in the days when they showed it on stream and on pictures, before players actually received their Collector's Edition.
Trusting them would be very naive.

Imo if all pictures are fair, then I think the new statue has a bit more detail and colors going on making it "better quality", but it's true I am not holding it lol.

At least if I was recalling the ARR CE correctly, people will want to make sure the picture of the CE they are looking at is specifically for their region, like on stream for ARR they showed off Japan's CE and then there were micro differences for the other region's which they did prepare photos for later but you had to read and be sure you were looking at "your" region's CE (basically I think it came down to Japan's was better packaged (better sleeves, box, and stuff), it's been a while though lol).

Yep, that's the one. Cheap soft plastic and a figure that doesn't even goes right on its stand. On mine, the paint is even runny on some parts.
There's quite a lot of owners feedback on it, and the vast majority was disappointed. That being said, the 130 bucks price tag wasn't too expensive so people didn't called it a rip-off. If it was 200 bucks, then it'd have been without a doubt.
This is why I'm very "careful" on the Stormblood figure. Especially since Zenos yae Galvus isn't really a favorite of mine... and it looks like I'm not the only one.

For instance, the annonced Heavensward CE (on stream) had a box opening on the side with two panels being deployed, as well as a steelcase for the bluray. In Europe, no steelcase, just a cheap cardboard CD sleeve, and a overall box that opens by taking off the top part. Even the artwork on the box itself was different.

So, yeah... I wasn't particularly impressed by Heavensward's collector edition, but it was "okay-ish" for its price. Which is why the Stormblood one, priced 70 bucks more is a big no for me, unless something drastically changed from the Heavensward's one (but it doesn't appear to be the case).

I'm more surprised they're reoffering the cloth Eorzea map which was already included in a past Collector's Edition (the original Japan and European Collector's Edition for version 1.0). At least US players will finally get it as the US 1.0 CE did not include it strangely. Ah well, I still have my 1.0 cloth Eorzea map, I've been meaning to frame it and hang it up for display, now I have extra incentive.

Oh yeah! I remember that one now, I LOVE steelcases and when I heard that I felt a lot better that I didn't buy it. Dark Souls 2 had a special pre-order event where you got the steelcase and a steel card for the price of the game normally (special edition at price of normal). I even bought it and had it shipped cross the seas, paying currency exchange (EU -> US), and all just to get it (funnily enough still cheaper than what people were trying to sell here). Felt like I had a heart of gold.. ;3. A lot of fan points from that.

It's good to bring these up for prospective buyers, not that I'm trying to dissuade anyone - absolutely not! (I think it's cool to collect stuff) Just to keep expectations reasonable so you're still happy with your purchase. Buyers remorse is awful lol.

What about the physical copy and Steam? I remember the drama with Heavensward and people saying they couldn't play with the physical copy of HW on Steam and stuff.

I have the PC and PS4 copies of ARR and HW on PS4. I can still play FFXIV on PC and all my collector's edition items (including HW) are still with me if I play on PC. I haven't tried entering HW areas using my PC yet, so I don't know if that will work or not. But the bonus items are account linked, and if you have two or more different platform licenses on your account, all that stuff is still available regardless.

It may be that I would need to buy a copy of HW for PC as well in order to enter HW via PC. I am not sure though. It seems rather stupid to handle things that way since I have already licensed the basic game on PS4 and PC, as well as purchasing HW (for PS4) and continuing my sub. But then, licensing is frequently handled in a very stupid manner by game developers.

I have absolutly no idea why there's this 70 bucks bump in prize compared to the Heavensward version. It just looks like pure greed as the two Collector's Editions are extremely similar in content.

Guess is the same reason why the fan fest stream was raised from $20 to $30 when nothing extra was added.

I want to ask about the early-access. Any pre-order can guarantee early-acess or does it have to be the collectors edition?
