A lot of people say my Processor may be bottle necking, but truth be told if I do have to change my processor, please don't say i7, and if you do, it needs to be cheap enough for me to replace my motherboard to fit it on @@

Could you please list the settings you run FFXIV at.

Also, when was the last time you did a defrag of your harddrive?

I ran a total defrag 3 days before 1.9s launch, in anxious preparation of the awesome patch.

As for settings, I just recently found a stable setup with my video card, it runs smoother and the Vsync is nice, but it isnt perfect and I would still like to find a way to average all around 40 fps when I am in really high activity areas.

    Fullscreen at 1680x1050
    No AA
    General Draw 8
    Background Draw 3
    Shadows at Standard
    No Ambient Occlusion
    No Depth of Feild
    Disanble Cutscene Effects
    Enable Hardware Mouse
    Texture Quality Standard
    Texture Filtering Standard

and no changes to my sound or font settings whatsoever.
I would also like to point out that my processor NEVER goes into max load with this game, the cores seem to cascade in load. Core 1 will run 40%, core 2 will run 50%, core 3 will run 60%, and Core 4 will run 70%, and my overall average processor usage is 50%...

LASTLY! The task manager has my program on lowest priority on a persistent basis

Ummm ok well I'm going to just say this, your proc maybe the bottle neck. I have an i5 2.66 gHZ and my game CPU NEVER goes above 20% usualy it stays around 15-18 but it has been known to hit 20% and that's all 4 cores.

    CPU:Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I5750

Any suggestions for replacements and a decent price range?

Well tbh, I feel ya on that question. I bought these when I had the money but now, with the way stuff is, it's more or less what's YOUR budget range lol.

I spent a LOT of time on newegg of course. If you wanna drop some numbers for budget and size of your Case, some of us may have some ideas for you.

I'll check now since work is slow and throw a few things your way to try out. I have a LOT more then this though for cooling too. No H2O but I spent about another 100 or so for cooling to keep CPU and GPU cool. Glad I did with all the horror stories I hear on here.

Here is a reply to another user who was paranoid about their issues. It shows the cooling I have and case spec.

I purchased an after market MASSIVE and I do mean MASSIVE CPU cooler that came with a 120mm fan. My GPU is also a really nice upgrade from the standard shipped cooler as it 1), is very low profile, 2) dual 120mm thin fans and 3) came with an external dual fan adjuster so I can personally turn up or down either fan to help with not just noise but boost cooling as needed.

Here is the GPU cooler I got and here is the CPU cooler I got. Scythe products imo are amazing and my PC runs quieter than my laptop. The loudest thing in my box is an old a$$ PSU that I've had since 2001 xD lol. Still works so I'm getting my moneys worth out of it. :P
