I can understand why some mightn't like the gender restriction, I personnaly don't mind. Though what bothers me is : why do they still make TWO separate items just for the sake of ''gender locking''!? Is it so hard to make it into one single item? I mean, XI was able to do it so why can't XIV?

This game already does that with a fair number of items, so your jab at the end of was kind of pointless. They're separate items so that their names are appropriate for the collaboration.

In general, people take no issue with creators presenting their visions, they take issue when they are supposed to abide by them. Take name generation for example: Nobody bats an eye at the fact that every race has its own naming habits and that those are presented all throughout the game. Strange no? It's because you don't have to abide by it - you can take any name you like. And therein lies quite an important difference.

So nobody is actually trying to infringe on the rights of creators and that argument really is a strawman.

Probably since that armor included dual sabers.

Reading some of the responses in this topic and others, it's as if people don't know that this is gear is from a Collaboration Event and therefore needn't abide by the standard rules of gear that we have now, and instead abides by the rules that govern the source material and/or rules as determined by the creators. Huh... Who would've thunk.

More to the point, he's kinda the only dual wielding makai knight in the show/franchise, specially if you take into consideration they are pulling mostly from seasons 1 & 2 (out of 5 live action seasons.) and everyone else is either a single sword user (lots of curved blades and scimitars now that I think about it.) or uses something like a great axe or spear. Zero is also rather quick and nimble so he does fit NIN. IMHO.

I made the point last page that this could have been way worse. They could have stuck to Garo's lore HARD and that would make it so only the dudes would get to equip/use the Makai Knight armor cause again, It is Makai LAW that women can't be knights. Garo bent it's lore to let everyone have a good time with it, so...enjoy it I guess? idk, trying not to come off harsh here.

They added new pvp mounts and armor inspired by a tokusatsu series that later became an anime called "GARO." It's pretty damn good honestly, I highly recommend checking out the anime at the very least. Fair warning though, the story is pretty dark, it's definitely not a lighthearted series!

I think this "Garo" or whatever armor sets look incredibly stupid. They just look like bloody super metallic power rangers. The gender restrictions are asinine as well, and shouldn't have been allowed. Who gives a crap about ANOTHER game's "lore restrictions" when this is a completely different game that should NOT have those restrictions?

I mean if they stuck to the lore, No one at the Yokai Watch event should have been able to see the NPC's Yokai. The entirity of all the yokai should be talking, not doings what you say and generally just being arse holes because that's what Yokai DO.

But no, they're turned in to mini pets that don't even interact with you. So the "other game's lore" thing just doesn't work. This is FFXIV, not Ganguro or Guro or whatever the heck it is. Not everyone's played that game and knows the lore, so why should they put restrictions on stupid clothes?
