This got fixed.
I think they will do it like the fix, not how it was before the fix.
Or put more of them to MSQ quests instead to sidequests (like in Azys La).If they were to gate behind purely exploration, it would allow players to just immediately run around the instant they enter the zone and unlock flying. Which would kinda defeat the purpose of gating it in the first place.
So I guess sticking to the combination would be best.

yeah I'd like one for sure, I love the story of this game.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.

I meen I'm ok with going through the msq to unlock dungons to be honest im going to do them anyway that's what I play for is the msq so gating stuff dosnt realy bother me i actualy get kinda upset when I hear people skip the cutseens cas idk se works hard to give use an amazing storry to consume and you can tell it's a story there proud of

I personally want to see the 4.x storyline wrapped up completely with 4.0 ... with the 4.05 and later patches providing optional stuff to do, with minimal MSQ. Its not going to happen, but that's what I'd rather see.
Basically, I know that with content patches there will always be some stuff held back, but I'd rather have the complete "expansion" with the x.0 and other, less vital stuff added in later. Coil/Alexander, CT/Mhach, optional dungeons for the DR's, side quests such as the Scholasticate/Hildibrand/beast tribes, etc. are all fine filler content for the content patches, but MSQ stuff should be limited to the x.0 initial expansion.

i much prefer the constant updates to the msq. Keeps it relevant and not something you forget after not touching it for two years.

I agree. I wouldn't be invested in a game where I spend 99% of the time without any story updates. After the first few days to a week the story would be over & a two year wait for the next part would make it so tenuous as to be irrelevant. Not at all a Final Fantasy way to do things.

I don't mind long stories. fine with it. the only problem is when they're dragged out uneccesarily and pull you away from the plot rather than engross you into it.
it is something that seems to be improving slowly. the last couple of patches the story has been pretty good from point to point. but earlier points in the story and there's so many occasions where it goes completely off plot. you fight titan and theres something like 39? quests of entire randomness like "hey you've slain a primal but some slugs are damaging these tress can you sort it out for me" and other completely random stuff. and then after these 39? quests or so you FINALLY get back on to the actual plot..
they could seriously cut out maybe 2/3 of the main scenario quests entirely and it would not significantly change or have any impact at all on the main plot line and sequence of events.
the problem this has with a few friends that have picked the game up is that when they beat titan for example they feel pumped slayed a god awwwww yeahhhhhhh.... cant wait to see what happens next...
39 or so quests later they're completely detached from the story because it been such a laborious chore of instantly forgettable tasks that when youre finally about to face garuda you're totally disconnected and struggling to remember whats happened thus far. this is why a few of my friends just stopped playing. because the story is so full of chaff completely unrelated and unfitting to the actual plot. it just puts you off.
one friend said its like having a novel that has 100 pages of a telephone directory between every chapter that you "must read" before you can read the next chapter of the novel...

Since im generally stuck slugging it out in pvp in the daytime, Ive developed a tradition of only doing the story late at night when I can settle down and fully enjoy every little bit of it like a fine dinner. Heavily enjoyed every bit of HW so ya, hope stormblood's story is stupid long with LOTS of cs and dialogue. (and ya...im that one person who talked to every single npc multiple times back in Chrono Trigger)

I want more msq with better pacing. Everyday life stuff is good as it makes the epic moments stand out. The lvl 30(ish) titan was bad as it felt like gating for the sake of gating. If it had been a sidequest about saving the gobbiecheese recipe i woulve been fine with it.
I think the HW one was fine. This game is so diverse and filled with many different players, some love the lore of the game and love this games story. How I like it is I love the story of the game but don't love gating all things behind said story. So basically I enjoy a ton of story but it not blocking me from exploring different areas or doing different job quest etc, I like to play around the story and come back as I please when Im ready to do more.
But I still very much love the story in this game. So are their other people like me that hopes that we get a very long story quest line for stormblood? Are do people prefer how the quest round out at about 100 for the main hw quest line. I havent heard many people talkin about what they hope for in the msq so Im just curious. I like lots of msq and I for one am hoping thats what we get next expansion.
I'd prefer much lengthier content patch MSQ. The 3.1 was ridiculously short.
