3.5/4.0 Speculation & Discussion (Spoilers)

I suddenly realize that I've never seriously contemplated the what ifs surrounding Silvertear Falls. It must be years since I've thought of it as anything but "where all the rivers meet". As of 3.45, I might even go as far as to hazard a guess that it's where the corporeal world is closest to Hydaelyn and/or The Sea.

It's painted many different ways. Some call it a great concentration of aether, some say it is the origin of all water and magic, some say it is the center of the world, some claim that all aether should pass through the falls when returning to the land. It is home to a "mythical" energy, a "spiritual" energy; its importance has been part of legend going back to the first legends we have. Not Cid, not Erik, not Gaius van Baelsar questioned the claims.

I've always just though of it as "the great confluence", perhaps even the cradle of life.

I'm just confused about why there was a seal on it that spat copypasta Ifrit and Titan everywhere when it broke. I never did understand that part, lol. Perhaps, like the Cid / Goggles incident, it was visual metaphor showing that these concentrations of aether flowing through the fertile (read: prayer and faith infused) lands of Eorzea would inevitably lead to a rash of deiforms.

Of course, if I haven't thought to question it in years, there's a good chance I've been thinking about it wrong the whole time, too.

Regardless, I'll have an eye out for it.

I used to use all sorts of silly titles and pomp when the lore community was tiny. Proclaiming yourself Lore King felt like proclaiming yourself Emperor of the Playground on Route 5. Sometimes its feels kind of wistful that I can't do that anymore without worrying the tongue-in-cheek regalia will make me look like I take myself even a little seriously, lol.
