Red Mage and Dancer is all I need! Sadly, we may not be getting a new healer.

Well time to expand they are making enough money. The expansion will start with 2 jobs but they might add a third in the coming patches.
An example would be NIN, it was added in 2.4
Team already said realsing 3 new jobs require lots of work and effort. The dev team is actually very small, much smaller than you would expect.
The devs have openly said they'll never do another job during a patch again. It caused far too much stress on the team due to all the balancing requirements. Apparently, job development takes nearly a full year, which is probably why the Heavensward jobs were so poorly implemented upon HW's release. My guess is the next expansion will follow with only two additional jobs but instead of two DPS, it'll be a tank and healer. The expansion will start with 2 jobs but they might add a third in the coming patches.

^agree on that one. To be frank iam fine with just 1 (any) class, i prefer the dev focus on more content like new equip, dungeon, raid, end game stuff, new ability, story, hildibrand, more edda like quest etc any day than a bunch of new class that has 50:50 chance that i will like it or hate it
personally im okay with not having a healer in 4.0... since one out of two new jobs is RDM dps, im hoping second one would be a tank job... mostly because DF has a low number of tanks doing casual content and i'd like to see how one additional tank job would change that
I think there is plenty of potential to see a new healer with the Stormblood expansion. A new healer can fill a new spot as off-healer to compete with SCH and final fantasy is a game known for having a lot of class/job selection options.
Right now, with current balance, WHM and AST are at odds for the main heals spot and SCH has the off-heals spot to itself. Maybe one fix for this "healer balance" issue is to solidify the raid roles more by adding a second off-heals choice to compete with SCH. This would create a new category of healers just like DPS has two categories (ranged and melee) that would put AST vs. WHM and SCH vs. the new healer, instead off all healers competing with each other.
And then we should consider that Final Fantasy has always been a job/class bloated game. The last final fantasy MMO had sixteen advanced jobs and each new incarnation of the series is always adding new jobs. There is no precedence for FFXIV to have less class/job options.
You cannot take anything for granted, change eventually swallows everything you may try to immortalize.
Even if they come out with less jobs, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll supplement it with more content elsewhere. Just wanted to point that out.^agree on that one. Still dreaming of my chloromancer like healer (heal based on damages, the more you hit the mob, the more you heal your tank / group). Of all the healers i've ever played (and i played a lot ^^") i've never seen a funnier and enjoyable healer![]()
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
