I personally didn't like it even when jobs started at 30 , but I gave them a pass because there was no class attached to it. It is not an insane statement to make, some people like leveling and growing into a strong character not just starting half way through. I can claim that as fact, because I am one of those people, to say that isn't a fact, is like saying I'm not a "person".

I understand that I am obviously, no longer part of the target demographic anymore, with all this new news. This has been an incredibly long, frustrating, and depressing week for me personally, in regards to this game. It's bumming me out big time. Instead of getting excited I'm just being pushed out the door, it feels bad man.

Well either way, it isn't an inane one either.

I understand that, and you being positive about it is fine. I'm glad you're happy. However; some of us do enjoy that process. I don't think it's crazy or stupid that some people are getting upset, that half the leveling process is being cut from a fresh job, given this is an RPG. The 30 jobs for HW made sense, because they are trying to get rid of classes, and 30 is the magic number where you become a job.

For me, when I start an RPG that contains leveling, some of the fun for me is getting excited at what I'm going to unlock next, I love taking screenshots of my character as a baby in their crappy gear, all the way up through to the end, when they are fully geared and grown. Basically what people are saying here is for us to fake that experience by going to PotD or queing for low dungeons. Which despite what they imply, is not the same thing at all.

Also, I said inane, which means stupid, not insane. It's obviously not a very demanding request to start at Lv30, I wouldn't care where it started from, but if the devs feel 50 is a good spot, then that gives me even more of a reason to start on RDM since it would take less to reach max.

You also have to realize that starting these at 50 means you'll have people in level 50 roulette, trials, etc, who literally just unlocked the class. yeah, the minority might read tooltips, but the first couple weeks is going to be a nightmare. DF is terrible as it is, imagine someone that unlocked the job 20 minutes ago. I might not enjoy leveling, but I'd rather see these jobs start at 30. Right now, we only have Rdm, but imagine with a new tank or heal class, someone who has never tanked or healed before and getting thrown into Chrysalis, or Wanderer's HM.

I get that people may not enjoy the leveling process, but starting these at 50 is pretty much an instant kick from people leveling old jobs that don't want the headache. I can also say right now, if you have no idea what your doing in level 50+ content, I will kick you immediately.

(Also for the sake of consistency and the story I would rather they start at 30, having to level them to 50 takes less than a week.)

Exactly what I'm worried about. It has already happened with DKN and AST. Not one day tanking or healing and head right into Haukke, or worse, Brayflox after hitting up some FATEs.

I can't predict how bad it will be, but I'm guessing you normal quick runs of 50 roulette to slow down at best, and if anything like with the HW jobs, it will be abysmal at worse.

Most players would get from 30-50 in a day anyway, so I find the whole "not another 20 levels of ARR! " a bit of a cop out. Only time will tell if these jump potions and jobs starting at 50 was a good idea, but I can hear, see, and feel all the complaints now.

GOOD. That's what we should be doing to everyone at high level. New RDM's should be no different. If someone can't do their job, I can and WILL attempt to kick them. I've been told off for starting a kick and I straight up told them "I'm not here to carry you. Learn to play or stop wasting everyone's time."

If everyone who didn't know how to play kept getting kicked, these players would either leave the game or learn to play. Seems like a good world to me. I'm not sure why people are willing to just deal with it and let these players learn that getting carried is okay.
