Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your girlfriend, but fishing for the sympathy vote from strangers on a generalized FFXIV board isn't necessarily the first thing that comes to my mind when something that serious has happened.

Think me heartless if you like, but I'd be at the hospital right now or actually seeking your support from the people that actually matter in your life.

I agree with this sentiment. If I was in a similar situation, the last thing on my mind would be seeking sympathy via forum. The whole of my effort would be focused on being a physical presence to the one I care about.

That being said, I hope OP's girlfriend feels better soon. That's some scary stuff!

So what if he wants to post here? How does it affect you in anyway? Maybe his girlfriend spends a lot of time on the game and it's important to her, and OP wanted to show her some support and well wishes from the community? You have no idea what OP has done/ is doing about this, and to imply otherwise and call it "sympathy fishing" is unnecessary and rather disgusting tbh.

I wonder...how do you know as much as what's the "first thing" comes to his mind and the matter that he hasn't done what you say in reality?
"Oh, the situation of his girl friend is so serious that he shouldn't have any time to spend on this forum"?-- Come, the network community is not a luxury today.
If imagination could be evidence on which you judge things, I'd also imagine: what if the thread stater wants to collect wishes and show it to his girl friend?
