We can agree to disagree, theres nothing wrong with that, however I will say that I was referring more to the skills themselves and hotbar management than rotation. Going through the game currently gives you one skill at a time, this means that you can place these buttons in the right places individually and understand what each skill does before getting the next one. I don't care about rotations in this arguement, people already look up rotations at endgame; what I am concerned about is a jumped player being overwhelmed by the ~30 skills that will instantly be added in random slots on their hotbar. I remember in HW I had to take around 30mins per job decoding the skills that I had been given for DRK/AST/MCH and rearranging my hotbar, and those were only level 30 ( ~12 skills), imagine a brand new player who doesn't even know the game systems doing that and then going into SB levelling (something something skill gap), I can assure you that the playerbase won't assist them and it will be horrible.
Honestly, what little I played of SWTOR really turned me off their approach to story. As a newer player, I got thrown into a late game story dungeon, where I was given no context as to where I was and I believe a lot of plot was spoiled for me. This experience kinda skews my opinion on how SWTOR handles its story, though I will be sure to do some more research.
Another note: I'm pretty sure that SWTORs expansions are completely standalone stories, XIV has an overarching narrative that stretches across all of the expansions.
This is my worry. I'd rather not wait and see what it will evolve into, as every time we have "waited to see what would happen" it has let us with bad game systems that can't be removed. Imagine if a little more thought had gone into housing, and it had been futureproofed before release as an example. I already explained my prediction for the future and that is why implementing the jump potion now, regardless of the good it will do, is an extremely risky move, which in my eyes will negatively impact the health of the game, and constrict developer freedom in the future.
This is one of the points I was making. Arguably, the jump potion doesn't fix anything. The root of the problem needs to be dealt with before we can even think about boosting people, because I can guarantee that the problem will never be looked at again once the jump potion is released (and like I said, devs haven't learned about gating expansions after HW, so why would they invest the time now?).

I think some people are not realizing the importance of first impressions in a MMO. I have way too many friends quit or discontinue their sub due to the current state of ARR. They couldn't take the staleness, and the long drag of the MSQ. They also felt like there was nothing else to do than just MSQ. You see the thing is, people judge whether to continue playing during the early stages of the game. I feel like this is what people do not understand, and make it seem like the jump potion will fix this feeling for everyone. Interestingly enough, I told them about the jump potion they still rather not pay for it because they are disappointed in the game. Since they paid for ARR, they feel that they wasted their money and the pricing of the potion turns them off. However, the important part is that they feel like they wasted their money. There are people who will not throw away their money that easily. So its necessity is quite questionable. It's the matter of how can we make ARR not a waste.
That being said, think about it. Do you honestly believe new players will just easily buy a jump potion after being disappointed about the early game? Now, before we go on to the point of playing with friends. In my honest opinion, your feelings on whether YOU enjoy playing the game takes top priority first and there are going to be a lot of new players who carry this belief. Suggestions have already been said to improve the early content of ARR (That anyone can play together, like PotD). Regarding MSQ, that's going to be a problem to fix, yes, but we cannot leave it as the way it is.
Side note: I'm not completely against the jump potion and I care about the perspectives of new players. This is strictly why I have a issue with ARR and I believe there are definitely better alternatives available. No complaining, just trying to figure out a better alternative here. Because as you can see, the jump potion has proven to be quite divisive within the community (Which no one should be ok of), doesn't fix the issue of player retention and spreads controversy in other areas. This is my feedback on the situation.

Come on~ Joo all knew this was bound to happen. SE's monthly paycheck via new subscribers > In depth, connected, continuational Stormblood storyline. Stop living in the past i say. The age of Chrono Trigger-worthy material of substance MUST give way to ease of casual newbie access.
...but GOD just once before I croak..I'd just like to hear Mr. Yoshi say :...we just wanna make more money is all."
I get what you mean but I don't think they should let the content remain dead, although Crystal Tower always seems to be terminal. Not even Wondrous Trails could save it, even on the day it's like if you don't log in as soon as reset happens you're in for a 30 minute queue
Just the western side (can't speak for EU) the JP forums are pretty alright and 2ch isn't so bad either. The community showing true colours.
but I think the OF is just slightly above reddit, atleast discussion happens here somewhat rather than the entire front page being filled with people's art commissions or the odd reddit "humor" threads.
So many people grabbing their pitchforks etc with all of this, it is going to happen regardless, and the points Yoshi-P makes are valid to be fair for implementing this.
Some people may not like it but to be honest having the option is nice. Especially to those who left in 2.x due to whatever reasons and want to come back but don't have the time etc due to real life commitments/work etc to slog through everything. People need to take into account that there is a lot more to this then the game becoming P2W/F2P. How is having more options a bad thing?
Also all this skepticism and people fearing the worst, need to calm down and take a deep breath. Your working yourself up into a frenzy and what is the point in that? Especially assuming things which may or may not happen. I mean did you all suddenly gain clairvoyance overnight?

I already elaborated that in another thread:
If you have 100.000 people at lvl 60 subbing and 10.000 absolutly new players join and 3000 of them skip. Then you have 3/103 = 2,9% jump players in DF. That's all. Not factored in, that the 7000 other ones reach endgame at some point (lowering the share of Jumpers to 3/110=2,7%), while some of the jumpers also got better and lower the share of bad ones even further.
So instead of the former x% bad Players you can expect x% + ~3% bad Players (for example ~38% instead of 35%). WHAT. A. BIG. DEAL.
Topics like this are making Limit Break Radio entirely unlistenable. There are WAY too many tryhards making a mountain out of a nearly unnoticeable molehill. At some point, people need to stop thinking they're the only ones who deserve to play the game just because they happened to start on day one.
