I think some people are not realizing the importance of first impressions in a MMO. I have way too many friends quit or discontinue their sub due to the current state of ARR. They couldn't take the staleness, and the long drag of the MSQ. They also felt like there was nothing else to do than just MSQ. You see the thing is, people judge whether to continue playing during the early stages of the game. I feel like this is what people do not understand, and make it seem like the jump potion will fix this feeling for everyone. Interestingly enough, I told them about the jump potion they still rather not pay for it because they are disappointed in the game. Since they paid for ARR, they feel that they wasted their money and the pricing of the potion turns them off. However, the important part is that they feel like they wasted their money. There are people who will not throw away their money that easily. So its necessity is quite questionable. It's the matter of how can we make ARR not a waste.
That being said, think about it. Do you honestly believe new players will just easily buy a jump potion after being disappointed about the early game? Now, before we go on to the point of playing with friends. In my honest opinion, your feelings on whether YOU enjoy playing the game takes top priority first and there are going to be a lot of new players who carry this belief. Suggestions have already been said to improve the early content of ARR (That anyone can play together, like PotD). Regarding MSQ, that's going to be a problem to fix, yes, but we cannot leave it as the way it is.
Side note: I'm not completely against the jump potion and I care about the perspectives of new players. This is strictly why I have a issue with ARR and I believe there are definitely better alternatives available. No complaining, just trying to figure out a better alternative here. Because as you can see, the jump potion has proven to be quite divisive within the community (Which no one should be ok of), doesn't fix the issue of player retention and spreads controversy in other areas. This is my feedback on the situation.
