Pretty much. To relate it to the game: the DRG Bible. I myself didn't make it, but I use it and constantly give it to babby DRGs. Thendiel and others did the hard work, I benefited and am passing that knowledge down. Reinventing the wheel for the sake of reinventing is just insane.
That's a pretty selfish attitude, and one that has no basis for fact. But to answer your question, yes, I would forgo short term loss for long term financial sustainability for the studio so we could get meatier updates in the future.
The point at where someone says enough, is more than likely brought about from what they had to endure up until that point, so people leaving during HW comes as no surprise to me, as myself being relatively new to the game, not long endured the 100 quest stretch of 2.xx, I'm quite resilient, but that really tested my resolve.
I'm just going to list this here as a reminder to everyone "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WhenIWasYourAge"That's a pretty selfish attitude, and one that has no basis for fact. You say short term loss for long term financial sustainability, but I'm almost 100% confident you have never worked in a gaming studio, let alone one of this magnitude, at the appropriate corporate level to understand what that may even entail.
Other game studios have had to or have done it. Bioware said the same things about their story, in that its too hard, too costly for it to be considered, and you know what, they worked it out, they had to as the churn was heading into the negative.I'm just going to list this here as a reminder to everyone "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WhenIWasYourAge"

Corporations that dwarf this studio still make mistakes, the size doesn't matter,
Or are you implying that you are so knowledgable about the inner workings of this game and its code, you know its going to cost a xxx dollars and xx time to do?
The cash grab is what's bothering me the most. Yoshi p has been disappointing me all throughout HW. So this really doesn't change anything to be honest, go for it.
If they add the jumping potions, they may also add a server for those type of players. Personally I don't like playing with people who love jumping everything in every game and FF games' stories are things every FF fan respects and shouldn't be ignored as if it was a crappy story like in any other cheap games. Or at least mark them forever with something in their names that may show us how they are more of a fan of jumping than questing and leveling. There should also be a limit in the use of jumping potions, if you already attracted a new player, it would be enough with a single use of it, if he likes the game he will stay. I would agree if the potions of jumping main quest in Alts and not in first and main characters, but it should be a single use, it's not fair for people who take their time to farm and level their gathering class to make some gil and then comes this "player" and makes the same as him so easily.
Honestly, I think the exp potion jump is fine. However, I do not think people should be able to skip story. Story is what makes Final Fantasy that. Skipping that is just lazy and takes away from the experience of the game.
