    Its not like DLCs.

Now FFXIV did reach a point where it offers the same amount of content most other MMOs do at Release, so why not ask for monthly fees then?

Yes, its still a long way of improvements, but its the same for every MMO.
They gave us a free year, because people where not gonna stick around, it is as simple as that, within a month of release they lost 90% of their consumers, the game sold 600K+ Boxes, the current player base is below 50K. The game was not ready to charge a sub then, and it is not closer now.

    Standard features in a MMO:

    Auction house
    Mail system
    Guild management(LS Administration)
    Engaging content
    8-10 Istances (Dungeons etc etc)
An engaging crafting system that's fun to play
    LFG Feature
    End game content
    low level content
    Mid level content
    Raids
    Alt tabbing (Seriously.)
A method of saving your craft synths

    What we have right now:

    Naked Grind
    3 dungeons
    1 boss fight a la wow 2005.

Sure it is ready to go P2p.

Games in this genre are in a constant state of evolution, so ultimately, either

1] players believe the game is evolving in a positive direction and are willing to fund further evolution, or
2] they don't and they take their time and money elsewhere.

Other successful games in this genre have also gone through tough stretches. Everquest (for instance) had points where there were crashes going on, equipment duping bugs wrecking the economy, when Sony was months late getting the Bazaar in place... and if people had abandoned the game en masse it would have ceased evolving.

I (for one) am encouraged by the changes that have been made over the past year and the investment that SE has stated they are going to make in the upcoming years, and am willing to put $12.95 a month into seeing where this goes.

Payments are coming. You're either going to pay or not.
Cast your vote with your wallets. If it's substantial enough, then SE will get the message.

I think an argument can be made that your "standard features in an MMO" don't exist completely in any MMO currently. That looks like far more of an "Ideal" list than a standard one.

If SE needs money, which they do after sinking a fortune into ffxiv, to make ffxiv succeed, then sure, have $12.95 a month from me. In face, they can have $25.90, I'll keep my mule active too.
a multi-million dollar corporation needs your $15 dollar subscription fee?

Not to mention all of the F2P mmo's that pretty much all have this.

I don't believe any of the games you mentioned satisfies each component on your list of "standard" features. WoW has "an engaging craft system that is fun to play?" Really? That wasn't anything like my experience with WoW crafting. Which is part of why I don't play WoW any longer.

Ultimately, if you feel so passionately that FFXIV fails to meet your criteria for standard genre feature set, you should go and invest time playing all of the other games that do. If enough people feel likewise, SE will notice and react accordingly.

In the meantime, I'll be here, enjoying and partaking in the evolution of this game.
