No. The company's duty is to provide content and make money, not to play babysitter to children (chronologically or otherwise) who can't manage to control themselves.Just popping in to say this is a bad argument - the company (more specifically to XIV, Yoshi-P's team) facilitate whatever the community does. It's like putting in open world PvP and then when the players start griefing you going "yeah but it wasn't the dev's fault, it's the community's!". If some bad thing is happening in the community using or "misusing" a feature it is the direct result of an oversight by the devs, one that can and should be addressed by them and not just passed off as "well the community is toxic" or whatever.
What these potions boil down to is $$ this game has many dedicated fans and lots of players who love the game. But financially it isnt bringing in nearly as much as some other mmos that bring in several hundred million in a year.
This is an opportunity to have a niche set up to have a sub base charges every month, and a cash show where they can eventually sale more things in as it expands. To me I get it for this game to last we may have to let some people that want it easy to come join us otherwise it will never compete with some other games and it should because this is a great game.
MMOs arent doing as well as they use to and very few mmos charge a sub fee this is just a new way to make some extra money and I hope it benefits the game.
Its simple, Devs may like a game and even want the integrity demanded by the loudest minority of a community. But they are a business, and Yoshida does not have last say. I think a lot of people on the surface forget this guy and his team have people they answer too.
If you work at McDonalds as the GM, and your District says "less pickles per sandwich" it doesn't matter if you think it will make the meal worse.... you drop those &$*%($&@$@& pickles.
You wanna play this game? CEOs don't give two flips about player competency, or what is or is not fair. They want your money, that is the reality of not just games but of life in general. You have to except that. And if I am being honest this is all a lot of silly false outrage. You are getting worked up over a game mechanic that the Devs are being made to add for the continuing profitability of the game, that is present in many games. This is the model now. Accept it or tap out. But if you tap out.... you will still face this your whole life.
What happened to acting civilized? Just because you disagree doesn't mean you need to start slinging mud at people.
Disagree and move on, there's no need to push your opinions on others, it doesn't help the devs at all when you do this with everyone who disagrees with you.
Whoa, that was a depressing read. Complacency, just because that's how it is. Don't give up on life man. /gives you a hug.Its simple, Devs may like a game and even want the integrity demanded by the loudest minority of a community. Me: "Aww man I'm clicking all the wrong buttons tonight!"
Friend: "You're i190, you can't click a wrong button unless it is no buttons"
Me: "lol"
Don't even know what this argument is. So you think, for some reason, that as a developer of an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) you shouldn't care about what the community does and just shove things in your game? How is it exactly that you think said company makes money? Perhaps by retaining their playerbase by not allowing a toxic community that puts many players off the game? Honestly, I really want to know how you arrived at this logic that the dev team is just supposed to shove content in a game that largely revolves around the community and not care about the community.
One thing I know, this will happen a lot. My fellow mentors in the network were talking today about denying any sort of help and kick in the dungeon to everyone they suspect using this kind of monetary cheating. I know I'll cancel my status as a mentor the moment this thing comes to the game. I'll not help anyone nor play together with anyone because they are lazy but have money to pay their way up without the same time and sacrifices we have made.
I see no need for Job Jump Potions. Attaining 50 is pretty simple with the log, level queue, and levequests.
Something does need to be done with the MSQ though. I've played MMO's since the the 90's and I truly understand all the arguments against it. However, having recently brought friends into the game, I can tell you what happens. They enter HW in the upper 50's and boredom sets in.
If this is more money driven than anything else then just do something creative instead. Give the ability for race/gender to change with job stones and I'll buy a fantasia for every job on day 1. There are creative options.
If this is new/return player driven then just allow people a free single catch-up. The Warrior of Light wakes up in a hospital bed because they took a hard hit in the last fight and doesn't remember things. Then the player can play with their friends and go back and do the MSQ if/when they want to. I can live with this if the alternative is selling Jobs and the MSQ.

Probably, but I'm just a small drop of a sea, small something compared to what is to come. Looking forward to it, but the way the thing is proceeding, I really doubt it will ever happen.
How much development time do you really think it would take for SE to remove flags from older content? Right now if you wanted to enter a dungeon, let's say Haukke Manor for example, there is a flag requiring you to be a certain level (or ilvl), and a flag for having completed X quest. Do you really think it would be that hard to remove one or both of those flags and just make that content accessible?
Imo, they should simply make it so that if you walk up to the gates of Ishgard, and try to enter into Heavenward content, you are greeted with a brief warning that tells you that skipping ARR MSQ will result in spoilers, do you wish to proceed?: Y/N
They've already shown they have the capability to do this because that's exactly what these potions do. They alter your content flags to let you proceed with that content. That these items are on the mogstation is purely for profit.
