Oh you're right, I thought I did, but it is still in my inventory xD
    My bad :O

Have you tried placing the decoration with your main and removing it with an alt?

EDIT: It works, by placing the decorations on a FC House, you can share it with any FC member, they just have to be able to remove it from the house (according the House Authorizations for their rank)

I'm not into housing. I also have enough retainer storage to satisfy my needs. So, my opinion on this is going to be from an outside perspective.

That said, I just wanted to say a few things.

A lot of event rewards cannot be traded or sold ever. That housing items apparently circumvented this restriction doesn't make sense to me. There needs to be more incentive in this game to sustain an active subscription and seasonal events are part of that incentive. Seasonal rewards should be exclusive and special and not something you can pawn on the MB for profits.

Personally, I'd prefer the rewards remain exclusive. I'm not of the mindset where I'm entitled to everything just because I can pay for it. But, if they're going to add the rewards to mogstation, it makes practical sense to do what they've done. If I wasn't subbed while some of these rewards were made available, I shouldn't get to have them without paying for them. It's simply not fair to the people who were subbed and supporting the development of said content. Being an FFXIV tycoon or buying gil from a 3rd party seller should not give me the same access as someone who was subbed and supporting SE. If I was subbed but didn't bother with the rewards, then I can't blame SE for that. As such, it makes sense to alter the system so that said items cannot be transferred from player to player free of cost.

My wild guess as for what it works currently that way, is that Furnishing items have no personal ownership server-data-wise once they've placed into a house.

So as of now, to prevent them from being "removable" by another FC member than the one who placed them, the Furnishing item would have to be tagged as "lost when removed" like some of the rare craftable decorations.
But unlike these rare craftable decorations, there is no way to obtain these seasonal and other event decorations in-game once you lost them.

So I think in this context, they chose the "less evil" of the 2 solutions: Allowing FC/Personal House owner to be flexible with their event decorations (for example decorating your house with Starlight stuff in december and removing them afterward until next year, and switch between decorative style alongst the year), even if that can potentially be used as a workaround to transfer event decorations between FC members.

I already explained why; I think this system is better, and I don't see how your desire to stockpile fifty snowdrifts for unknown reasons qualifies as an argument against it.
Eh there are reasons other then selling where you may want it. Maybe you want to in the future cover your whole entire yard with snow, therefor needing 40 (well unless they ever decide to raise the item limit). There are reasons to stockpile some items other then for selling purposes. I have about 40 of those Christmas lights from last year saved to use all around my FC's mansion. Sometimes you just want to get creative with a specific type of furnishing~ and you have to plan ahead and stockpile if you do with these holiday specific ones.

Indeed, knowning that I will have no way to obtain these in-game later, I'm always torn between just getting strictly some I will use immediatly on the FC house or sacrificing storage because I may need them later when I will buy a personal house, or if I want to modify the decoration later and may require more of them.

Optimally, I would like these event decorations be only available to those who participated in the event, even enforcing the decoration so they are destroyed when removed (no sharing between FC member), but while still being purchasable from the Recompense Officer like the event gears.

That specific part, I would love if they did that, even if they take extra measurements to make sure people don't trade, such as destroy when pick up.

Right, and then to ensure you have enough seasonal furniture for the next round you will need to stockpile even more quantity of the same item. So far it's been proven that SE will not add seasonal furniture to the recompense officer (because it will hurt their sales), so it you support the "destroy upon removal" for seasonal furniture idea then you're either not thinking this through or simply trolling.

If it wasn't clear from my posts here, I do not support "destroy upon removal" with the current restrictions, I'm saying IF they were to add them to the recompense officer then destroy upon removal would be harmless, ONLY IF they do that, otherwise I would prefer if they revert to what it was before the Make it Rain event.

they can go the dreamset route: Give it another item ID, change the name a bit and make it untradeable while the older version is still tradeable

They actually did that with all these items they added to the cash shop http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...291d96f3f2817d

They all have a different item ID.
