3.5/4.0 Speculation & Discussion (Spoilers)

Part of me wonders if it's meant to factor into the next expansion at all, in the same way Heavensward sent us back to ARR's zones for a few arcs.

I hope so. There's certainly a lot of room for additional dungeons after all. From a PvE point of view I really like TWT - the first two fights have been very cool. I love the design of them too - they've really done the FF6 versions justice. In terms of their lore FFXIV specific, it's interesting - I just hope there's more to the payoff than a straight up FF6 reference.

I have a feeling Azyz Lla might see a lot of attention in 3.5 though. Perhaps we'll even get a Fractal (Hard) or Aetherochemical (Hard) in addition to the next TWT fight.

To be fair to the Warring Triad series, we have learned quite a lot from both them and Unikalhai. The whole Primal possessed Auricite weilders thing is something I think almost certainly will come back into play at some point. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up fighting people in Hydaelyn attempting to do the same thing for power.

I think the Garleans should come away from Azys Lla with something though. While we have kept them from the most critical stuff I cant see how they would have learned nothing with such a strong presence, particularly since we have only had the reach to keep them from the most critical high security areas.

Maybe the Garleans found a way to take control of the Flagship and fly it away with the Triad intact? Wonder if it's possible? I get this feeling the Triad story won't end in 3.5 but will continue after the events of Stormblood. With the Garleans in possession of three very powerful primals we need to make our way to it's stronghold and take them out, but how? Smuggle ourselves amongst the Ala Mhigo resistance and get us ever the more closer to the Garlean homeland.

Having finally met the character in question, I am now paused and grooving to "Blumenkranz" so I can have it running in my head for our next meeting. That woman is one Diglett short of a Dugtrio, though her hair is just as on point.

Back on track, I don't think the Flagship can be physically moved anywhere, as it's still a major feature of the zone. It would be extremely disappointing for the Garleans to walk away with nothing, though.

Well that isn't going to be the case cause at the very least two of those primals are now gone with no one around to resummon them.

On-topic. I have a feeling that the First might be referenced in 3.5, and that someone is gonna pull a Nabriales (Since Elidibus is gonna keep tabs on Minfilia and the Warriors of the First)

I agree that the Garleans should come away from Azyz Lla with something of note for their trouble. It'd be a great way to lead into 4.0 and serve to make them seem less incompetent - which isn't doing them justice given all they've accomplished elsewhere in Hydaelyn. They've lost a lot when it comes to Eorzea, sure, but it's about time we saw rather than heard of their might and efficiency.

If I had things my way the Scions would break into an Allagan facility chasing some Garleans expecting them to be seeking out some sort of weapon only to instead find them hunting down a tool that will directly benefit the quality of life of Garleans back in their homeland. It'd fit with what the lore book states in regards to their drive to help their people survive and prosper. Perhaps the Scions themselves can be torn as to what to do about such a situation to add further shades of grey.

I think the Garleans have to get there hands on something. I still think we are lacking a trigger to send us to Ala Mhigo. Sure there is rumblings with the Ala Mhigan resistance and its on the to do list of the scions to get to eventually, but unless we have a "well we don't really have anything else to do at the moment so how about we head over to Ala Mhigo" we are still don't have a focused reason why now is the time to move against them.

For me I think one of 3 things has to happen to get things moving:

1. The Garleans find something extremely dangerous which we cant leave alone.

2. The Garleans are show signs of launching a full scale invasion and we are moving to try and shut down the invasion attempt before it can launch.

3. We discover there is something really important in Ala Mhigo that the Garleans are sitting on and we need to go through them to get to it.

The Garleans are obviously the enemies of the Scions at the moment, but we still don't have an answer to why now.

To be honest Theodric I don't expect us to see any shades of Grey in the Garleans till we go to Ala Mhigo. We are still dealing with pretty much exclusively the military branches of Garlemald and I think it won't be until we see the other side of Garlean society in a place where it has some establishment that we will see a different side of things.

It's possible that the trigger may, in fact, be Ilberd. I think that'd actually be pretty interesting - for the current status quo to be shaken up and for the Warrior of Light/Scions to have to do damage control to prevent a heavy handed retaliation on the part of Garlemald itself. If Zenos is a bad apple - which is pretty much confirmed at this point - then he'll likely be causing all sorts of problems too, not only for Eorzeans but his own people given that he presumably doesn't indulge in the core ideals that Garlemald was founded on.
