Wow, I didn't expect SE to respond at all let alone provide an alternate route for these minions.
Even if it ends up requiring a million ranked wins at least it places them into the realm of possibility for all minion collectors instead of 10 per data center.

It's a marketing device - free hotdogs with buns to first 100 customers - it's ginned-up in the sales department. Ragging on devs over something like this is so short-sighted as to make one wonder if the ragger know$ where he/$he live$. The entire point of a sales promotion like this is to make it limited so scads of people will surge forth in an attempt to get bragging rights.

I'm also in the camp of, gee...just because you want to collect everything in a given set doesn't mean the rest of the world has to bend over backwards, forget its original intentions and kiss its own hiney...for YOU. Gee. I hope I wasn't too ______________ (enter favorite insensitivity) in my remarks.

Thank you for your feedback in regard to the Feast Season Three ranking rewards.

We have received a lot of feedback globally in regard to the minion given out as a reward for successfully ranking in the top 10 of Season Three, and after discussing the details of the rewards with the dev. team we have come to a conclusion to make the following changes.

• Add another method to obtain this minion
  By completing a new achievement objective which is planned to be introduced in Patch 3.5, players will be able to obtain the same minion.
  
  
• Add another reward
  The minion will remain as a reward for players who successfully rank in the top 10; however, in addition to this, we will be introducing a new earring item with a unique design.

*The rewards page on the Lodestone has be updated to reflect this change.

We understand that there are players who have participated in Season Three of the Feast for these rewards, therefore, we did not want to take away and change the rewards. Instead we have made it so these players are able to obtain this minion earlier while giving other players a chance at obtaining the same minion by completing a new achievement objective that will be introduced after the conclusion of Season Three.

However, we did not want to discourage players already participating in the Feast for losing out on a reward, so we have decided to include a new earring along with the current reward.

Based on the feedback we received, we’ll make sure to be more careful when deciding which items to use for rewards, especially for items which would be difficult to obtain moving forward.

Time/schedule conflicts already making progression tougher, and now rewards just get time-released later? I didn't even want the minion, and accepted that I'd probably not have the time to put in to attempt reaching and staying in the top 100, so I was fine missing out on the mount.

But now it's going to become a participation award? Well, guess I'll skip Season 4 and just wait to "achieve" it later.

Actually, I cared more about the minions and mounts being exclusive. So now that at least the minion(s) are no longer exclusive, I am MUCH more motivated to participate in the Feast, even if I don't make anywhere near top 100. And If the mounts get this same treatment, I'm going to be all in.

As for the new earring, I didn't have the "well they just lost a PvP player permanently" reaction I had when I saw the mounts and minions were exclusive. For me, exclusive armor and accessories and furnishings/ decorations are the way to go to reward the winners of the Feast.

Hopefully this means all the other time-gated minions will be available in some way. Probably cash shop?
