I used to think they should balance around party 4vs4, but seeing as the majority of the pvp community only cares about solo queue, SE might as well balance around solo queue and tweak jobs where necessary.

There are also simply more ranged DPS around. We have 4 ranged DPS competing for the same slot and "only" 3 melee DPS. Moreover, ranged DPS are generally much less lag sensitive than melees - your skills will "whiff" (animate but not connect) a lot less from being displayed in range but actually being out of range (or, moving out of range while the package wanders). And melees are a lot more susceptible to CC outside the fetter ward duration, as binds in particular can function like a stun if nothing remains in range to hit - another frustration point.
Elaborating further would only lead off topic, however, it should be noted for completion sake that there are more factors contributing to ranged being more common than them being "safe and easy".
The easiest role to start PVP would probably be as tank, specifically WAR, as you won't get "clobbered" through the gate as tank unless you are careless with medals and are consistently picking up more than 4 stacks.
In terms of DPS none of the 3 you listed are particularly hard to play I simply suggested monk as it will have faster queues than BRD, which seems to be a factor for you, and is more versatile with a better arsenal and better survivability than DRG. Nothing wrong with DRG though I still play it in PVP over monk just out of personal preference. In my experience playing about 400 matches per season the last 2 seasons the fastest queues on weekdays start at around 8 pm eastern but it's also the time the most amount of new players queue and least amount of veterans queue. New players also dominate the weekend times for the most part. The veteran players are pretty selective of when they queue.
That's true, but there really is a limit on how far you can carry as Pld because their support is so diversified. It's kind of a double edged sword. Pld's support extends almost evenly to both Dps and healers; however, that also means that they suffer equally if either or both roles are lacking. The matchmaking only made that worse in the last two seasons, as the higher you climbed the more likely it was for a disproportionate "balancing" of players across the teams. It wasn't uncommon for Pld's to climb up to silver or gold, only to go on consecutive losing streaks with the same healers, dps, or both. It's one of the reasons a lot more tanks tend to solo-queue as War.That's the point of a tier list. A PLD who is able to optimize the potential of their job can carry harder than most other jobs in the game. Sure, sometimes we get terrible teammates, but a consistently opitimized PLD will climb farther than those on the tiers below it.
That said, the matchmaking has (supposedly) been adjusted this season, so maybe it won't make quite so profound a difference in the deficiencies that a Pld potentially has to cover for. We'll have to wait a bit more in the season to find out how things shake out.
I fully support anyone who wants to take up the Pld mantel, but you should be given fair warning before you start. Pld is, by far, the hardest of the three tanks to use at maximum potential in Feast. Their party support is so diverse that it demands far more attention than War or Drk, as well as coordination between yourself, the dps, and the healer. Almost all of their utility can be wasted if not used correctly, and sometimes it's wasted even if it is used correctly. Be prepared for a very steep learning curve and a lot of party frustration if you decide to main it in Feast.

Just wanted to point out for correction purposes, that WHMs get Sacred Prism, not Sacred Soil which is a SCH ability. Otherwise, great write up and awesome nonetheless!
You guys make it seem like playing warrior in the feast is easy. if it is, wouldn't there be more warriors in the top 100?
There are several on Aether. An issue we are seeing this season are that tank queues are up to 30-45 minutes long and therefore play far less games than melee or healer, which have sub-5 minute queues. Therefore, the melee and healer players can climb a lot easier due to the new system
