It still does allow for a pay to win. You can just use real money to become easily rich in game, And that's why I'm against any form of RMT.First you have to understand why RMT is bad, and it's not bad "just because people say it's bad".
Gil sellers use bots to obtain gil, SE has no control over them as they create hundreds of accounts for this, you suddenly have a huge amount of illegally obtained gil in the economy, more gil than players wold get by themselves, this drives up prices and ruins the economy, not to mention that this doesn't benefit the publisher in any way.
A sub token would not involve bot-generated gil for the most part, SE can control the price of the sub token just by controlling supply and demand of items, this has a different impact on the economy and it's an impact SE can directly control, and the company would also gain extra profit from this.
A sub token has very few cons compared to 3rd party RMT.
