Queued for A11 as BLM, because I just needed one last spring to get a pair of 250 pants. To cut a long story short, I encountered a revolving door of tanks leaving parties in their wake, and eventually grew desperate and tired enough to attempt tanking it. As an ilvl 240 PLD.

Through a miracle of miracles, we cleared it with only one wipe while I was learning how to MT on the fly. I found out I'm dumb and can't dodge Spin Crusher or the Laser Swords, though. Still, what's done is done. People were far less salty about the wipe than I expected, and I even won the spring I needed, along with a comm.

And then, in my infinite, exhausted wisdom, I traded those 4 bloody springs I had for a pair of fending pants, instead of the healing pants I wanted. Last goddamn time I'm ever doing anything while this tired.

But it then explained why I wasn't getting healed during the boss battle because I wasn't staying super close and didn't think about his fairy, thus no automatic heals which was how he was healing us.

Par for the course with the SCH I typically see >.> Kinda the end result of combining a DPS and healer, then giving them an automatic pet.

Errr no.
LB depends on the role and bars/tiers filled. A naked monk lvl 60 will do the same damage as an ilvl 245 dragoon. LB has its own potency that cannot be enhanced further.

BRD/MCH is also one of the weakest in the game (or I'm thinking of BLM... I know ot is one of them).

For a single target yes, but for multiple targets, they're the strongest.

Else single target damage wise, I believe the tank and healer LBs are the weakest

Yes I'm not sure either which one it is but since both are aoe (brd/mch straight line, caster circle aoe) they will be weaker than the melee single target.

I had these warriors in A9, both tanking in Deliverance. It wouldn't have been too much of an issue if it wouldn't have caused the "main tank", the dragoon and my BLM ass to play ping pong with the boss... Oh, and I almost wiped the raid because I tanked Faust and almost forgot to pull it out of the lava

I think BRD is weaker damage wise as it has a wider range. I remember looking into this when my gf and I leveled BRD/BLM.

I see that a LOT (and seems to only be with WAR... SE, make em a DPS already and get it over with). Had similar in Xelo yesterday.... tank being in DPS mode the whole time and I kept ripping hate. Don't think he realized he wasn't a DPS until I was almost dead.

I actually got kicked from a dungeon for asking the healer for a raise. We were in Gubal, close to the last boss and I went down on a mid-sized trash pull despite cycling CDs - my HP wasn't plummeting, but the SCH was pretty much spamming Physick and that was that. The party lived through it, but when I politely asked for a raise after lying there for a few minutes the SCH sprinted on ahead and said "rez", which I'm assuming is obnoxious prat-ese for "please resurrect to the start of the dungeon." I said I'd rather not since it would be much quicker to get a raise than run all the way from the last boss (it had already been a long run and it was half one in the morning.) "u willl have weakness." I said I'm a tank (and a PLD at that), I don't think it really matters at this point. They refused - you know, it's not like it's their job or anything - and to make a point the party went on ahead and pulled the next monster. I decided to meet petty with petty and stayed where I was. And of course you know what happened next.

God, DF really makes me hate people.

To be fair, I wouldn't have kicked you but I agree with the healer there. You have a shortcut after defeating the boss, it will not be faster to just ressurrect you. Plus the weakness. But then I understand why they kicked you if you just stay there tanking the floor... It's kinda you being the silly one here.

The scholar may have been a crappy healer, but it was you who wasn't doing your job. Yes, the scholar should have given you the raise, and their refusal certainly can't be justified with the rez weakness excuse, but you certainly could have released and run back and been the better person. Your temper tantrum prevented you from doing your job as a tank, so you earned your kick, in my humble opinion.



I was tanking for a FC mate who was leveling his arcanist, landed in Copperbell. The healer was new, but the monk was not. Just before reaching the ooze boss, in the part where you have to clear the three rooms to get the blasting powder, the monk decided to just stand there while we killed the mobs. During the ooze boss fight, he actually sat down over where the spriggan spawns and just sat there until the very end. I seriously wanted to kick him, but my buddy just wanted to finish, so we just kept going.

As I said, we were almost at the last boss, it was two minutes to run there vs. a two second SC raise, and there weren't even any big pulls left. Weakness would have made no difference. It was just an entirely new level of being petty and lazy, and I'm under no obligation to put up with or encourage it.

Call it what you like, though I'd argue not using an ability that comes as part of your job falls more closely under "not doing your job" than waiting for a raise.
