This is an extremely terrible idea. I say this from experience after playing WoW, not only will the servers become way less social, it's harder to make new friends from your server since you will hardly ever party with them unless they are in your guild. This also turns many "good" players that were hiding behind an act to complete douches when they know they can get away with things like stealing loot, bashing party members non stop, and oh boy don't even get me started when you get caught with a guild party in the party search. 7 times out of 10 they are complete asses just to be asses, and almost always try to get the loot for their guildies over the "extra" player with them by all rolling on said item even though only one of them needs it. Hopefully they do not add a kick function, or add one with specific requirements at least, because that also happens a ton and totally ruins any fun of the game because of so many extremely greedy people. With that said, screw this option.

The problem with WoW is not the dungeon finder itself but the dungeons. They are so smash and grab that you would have to have naked people running through them to fail. Hopefully, SE does not make that mistake. Besides, far less (not none) asshats play FF than WoW because it's not friendly to stupid people.

As long as we have something similar to FFXI's mission system in our new main story line then random raids are fine with me. Hell, who didn't PUG BCNM/KSNM/ISNM at least occasionally. If you did, then I dare you to tell me you never failed due to someone balls crazy running in thinking they could solo all the scorps (other than a BLM ). Again, as long as the content is a challenge then I am all for it. If it becomes a smash and grab, forget it.

What worries me the most is the stupification of the community through Add-Ons

Pick up groups wipe most of the time anyway so it doesn't really matter.

I vote FOR the DF. Sometimes all I have available is an hour, and I don't care to spend that hour lfg when everyone else is using the DF. If I'm short on time and there aren't people available with the necessary classes/jobs available within the proper level ranges available within my LS or in my vicinity... Well guess what? I'm hitting the DF. It's convenient and let's me experience content. If it means the game becomes less social, I can still hang out with my LS or RL friends. I don't see a problem with that.

I think the fact that it desocialises the world while also instrinsically making the world smaller and more like an entrance lobby is enough impetus to not implement it.

I don't like it either, but unfortunately it's coming.

We will just have to wait and see how it is implemented.

It could be as harmless as Auto-Party from XI. Could be as destructive as WoW's Raid Finder. Who knows.

Implication of Dungeon Finder: you'll be able to find groups for dungeons.

That's about it. Chill people, chill.

Dungeons in WoW are used for 2 things leveling then once you hit level cap getting points for the previous tiers gear. I assume in 2.0 they are going to have many more leveling instances. Before dungeon finder in WoW nobody leveled in dungeons because it was too much of a pain to find people in your range have everyone gather at the said dungeon. Now you can just queue up in a few mins your teleported to a dungeon for some fast exp. 5 man dungeons were never the pinnacle of end game content. I am assuming in 2.0 there will be many more lower level instances to level in.

Also they added raid finder which was a intro to raiding. It is easy mode only. You still had to make your own group for normal or hard mode. Raid finder gave people who normally didn't have the skill to raid a chance to see the content and get some gear while worse then what you find in normal or hard modes. A lot of people were happy with their raid finder gear because they didn't want to raid with a guild but many are not content with just doing raid finder. There are plenty of people on your own server each night that are shouting for Normal and sometimes even hard mode raids. I personally got the same group of people 4 weeks in a row. If you have to pug a few people for normal or hard mode raids this is a good way for guilds lacking members to recruit new players. Since you can only do those with people on your server unless they are on your friend list.

You need to think of the community as everyone who plays the game. Blizzard allows you to add people to your friends list from other servers. If you meet people on Blizzards forums you can exchange info and be playing with them in a dungeon or raid. Some people on Blizzard's official fourms like to organize old raids that nobody will do because its a few patchs old for achievement and mount runs. Your friend is on a different server and you want to play with them its not a problem. I used this several times to play with friends that aren't even on my server. So you could actually meet new people if SE lets you add people from other servers to your friend list like they do in WoW. Like if I was reading the official forums here and saw this guy seems pertty cool and I want to play with him then I could.

So in the and dugeon finder was a good thing that made it much easier to do the content in the game.
