It's hard to say, I'm a user of the Mogstation, both for old holiday gear and a multitude of Fantasias, but I do genuinely think the high price of the Asian costumes is based upon some serious redtape that SE needed to get through to import them.

So, I'm not against the Mogstation, I use it as it is, but yes, they'd very obviously would sell more if it was cheaper, but it may not be in the cards for these items to be cheaper.

Clover's not using her money on something she doesn't see a value in. You're not seeing the same value as the money you're putting in to purchase items off the mogstation. And that is fine. Nothing in this world or reality will ever be the 'best' or 'optimal'. Buyers right now obviously find the value of the items they get is worth the money they spend. They are happy with what they have. I don't understand why this is such a hard concept to grasp that people can be pleased with what they have. Everything has a price. If you're thinking that SE lowering the prices will somehow magically improve things, be prepared to have more minions and mounts entering the mogstation at these 'reduced' prices. You can't keep taking without giving.

This would have a leg to stand on if SE was relying on the cash shop for their income, but they're not. They have the benefit of being a P2P MMO. The mog station is gravy.

Obviously some people are satisfied with what they bought. What I don't understand is people actively arguing against others pointing out that SE could be giving us consumers a better deal. Like, they're literally arguing against their own interests. Fine, buy stuff that you like! That's entirely your right. But why oh why would a consumer ever say "No" to requests that SE's mog station items be account-wide or more reasonably priced? That makes no sense.

If they become account wide they're gonna charge double or triple the price they put them in for otherwise (to account for people otherwise buying them for alts). Make them more reasonably priced and they'll increase the sub fee for everyone (except maybe legacy account holders), to recoup the difference. That's why they have a point, because if you put those requests in Square Enix will find another way to recoup the money.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

You say "recoup" as though SE is somehow lacking in ways to make money. Y'all, we're not playing a F2P game. The mog station is not FFXIV's sole source of income. If they did either of the things you mentioned, it would be a grossly greedy act.

No, I say recoup as in recover the money they otherwise would have made from the mog station, regardless of whether or not they need that extra money. And greedy act or otherwise, they want that money, they will make sure they get it somehow. And I know we're playing a P2P game, but SE still wants the money.

First, because the majority of popular games' cash shops are more expensive, or WAY more expensive (not being the cheapest ever doesn't mean it's not on the cheap side in comparison). And second, because you simply decided to omit the price of the other costumes, as well as the fact that most of them could be obtained for free in-game.

The problem simply seems to be the fact that a cash shop even exists. It doesn't matter if it's helpful for the game to improve; it doesn't matter if the majority of costumes could be obtained for free, and it doesn't matter if the majority of costumes for sale are 10€ or less.

If I'm using hyperbole to support my own position, you are using convenient wording and half truths to demonize the FFXIV cash shop.
And those games are also (WoW aside) free to play....

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

And none of those games offers means to obtain the items for free, and of course they won't sell costumes for 3,50€.

The thing is that Yoshida did state a while ago that the monthly fee is not enough to maintain and improve a MMORPG. Things aren't as easy as we think, so the cash shop does help. How cheap or expensive it is for everyone will depend on the person. It is definitely cheap for me, and it's not the kind of cash shop that tempts me often either, so I'm very fine with it.

I have to say that yes, Mog is expensive as hell. But, the mogstation items ARE considered to be premium items which are not required for gameplay. Also, as far as the eastern items are concerns, I would imagine that SE would have to have jump through serious hoops to import the items considering they were exclusive to China. Also, they know the demand, so the price would have to be high for maximum profit. And more income for them will equal an easier time running the game and adding new features. So, really it's more of a want than need. If you can't afford it then don't buy it? Otherwise budget accordingly like I do so that it doesn't feel like a big hit to your wallet :\
