Aggro issues made worse by an uncontrolled boost in damage with Balance. I mean, you can see that as bad players being bad, but I certainly don't want to make my teammates jobs harder from something otherwise arbitrary.
Bole might be the only consistently okay card, but that's one of six in an RNG based system.
Again, I feel better just using those ability slots on my own heals and DPS skills verses tossing them on teammates I think should benefit from it.
Things are just so rigid for most players, that it seems more trouble than it's worth anymore.
I dunno, I don't see Balance as being bad. I can see tank aggro issues as a possibility but I can't agree that less dps is ever a bad thing. Exceptions to the rule being duties like Ifrit.
Kinda related to the topic: To be fair, I'm actually quite lucky when it comes to the DF (oh wow watch me jinx that now). The situation that I posted before was, what I thought to be, the worst experience so far.
Apparently I forgot about this one:
So, back when Syrcus Tower was still new, I queued up as a WHM with some friends for my second run ever. At this time, I had most of the mechanics down, and now only had to work on keeping a cool head while doing said mechanics and healing through it.
Shit starting going down around Scylla's fight. I've managed to keep the party up with my co-healer, and nobody died during the fight (got really critically low because damn she used to hit hard, but no deaths). Nobody, save for one guy, a lone BRD.
Now, when this guy died, both my co-healer and I went looking for him because, for some reason, we were unable to target him for a raise. The guy was quiet, too, as he just laid there, wherever he was. After a little over a minute of manually looking for this guy, the party needed their heals again, so I stayed where I was and healed through, and so did my co-healer.
We eventually did find this guy, and as it turns out, he was at the complete opposite end from the rest of the group. My co-healer, a SCH, raised him, and as they were running back to join the rest of the group, this same BRD went back to the side where he died, and stayed there. After that, whenever we tried to go heal him again, he just kept moving away from us. Every single time, at least until I basically said "screw it, you're on your own, jerk".
Needless to say, he died again.
And again.
Aaaaaand again.
So once the fight was over, this crap bucket starts getting salty with me, because I refused to chase his ass down just to plop a Cure 2 on him while also juggling the rest of the party, and saying that "this white mage is garbage, learn to play better." Or something along those lines.
My friend starts to defend me, and then he gets his thong in a twist and insisted that I needed to get my "retarded head checked", along with saying that it was my job to heal regardless, and blah blah blah.
After that, my co-healer and I just left him dead for the rest of the raid.
I do admit that what he said did get under my skin. I was pretty sure I was in the right for sticking with my group for the heals and mechanics, but sometimes I do wonder if running to him was what I, a healer, was supposed to do.
Or, at the very least, should I have done that on THIS fight in particular.
But after that, I pretty much refused to go back to Syrcus Tower, at least until a month or two later.
As a healer your jobs do do the "Minimum" amount of healing to keep your Grp alive etc. blah blah u know the drill. ....
It was the BRD's own stupidity to be that much seperated from the grp. Its your job to keep people alive and stuff yeah but it is NOT your job to chase some idiot around the entire arena becaus he thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants..
Thos kind of people deserve to die and if they dont like it, either they stick closer to the grp or they Piss off.. simple.
EDIT: I would, have just vote kicked him personally, carrying people is not right imo
#1 rule that everyone should follow in 24 man raids is stick by your group (especially your healers). If all of your team was in one area and that BRD was the only one not there it is on him that he died. He obviously lacked awareness to realize he was no where near his group or he was straight up looking to troll the healers. Since the Scylla fight arena is really large it is much better to keep the other six around you alive than to risk running across the arena to save one lone player who isn't paying attention in the first place.
Just my opinion on it. At least when it was new anyway...now Syrcus Tower is so faceroll that I doubt any problems like that would arise and/or you'd have time to safely run across to heal anyone you wished.

Hai! And yes, I do, it has become instinct as even if we have all melee the AST LOVES FEEDING AOE ARROWS. Stop... please, just stop. I cry every time I see a Spire wasted...
It was mentioned several times but for melee it comes down to bleeding our TP and messing rotations up massively. Yea, we're smashing more buttons but it may be a DPS LOSS depending how bad we're clipping; we may be missing DPS or blowing TP reapplying. In contrast, BLM/BRD doesn't have this issue.
The common factor here is their main resources aren't typically depleted.
- BRDs don't usually have TP issues from what I've seen (ignoring AOEs) and SS is one of their highest weighted stats. Arrow on a BRD is always a yes.
- BLM doesn't run out of MP technically, and Arrow can help push out an extra Fire 4 or do more spells in general under a single eno. Arrow on BLM is always a yes.
vanitaslaughing nailed it dead-on from a DRG perspective, and MNK is similar. NIN I'm not sure about, haven't touched it but I do know they love Spears.

I don't have a story this time. Rather, I have a request in place of multiple stories: Please stop tanking Calofisteri up against the wall. Just keep in the middle and, as a matter of fact, how about just don't twirl her around at all. Please. It's a simple request. I know tanks have to dodge some of her attacks too, but after you do, just come back to the middle and stay still. And I know that you twirl her around so people don't have to worry about haircut, but 99% of tanks are inconsistent with it and it's pretty annoying.
It is absolutely infuriating wiping because Darkness McEdgelod or Miz'Skimpy Kawaii'Neko wanna mess it up for everyone.

Hi i think i was in that weeping party before but in another alliance. Honestly i never seen that kind of fight before where the whole arena turn orange. I did cringe when i noticed there was no way to escape the haircut tho. XD
Its natural to have some mistakes as a new tank. Don't push yourself too hard.
I am also learning to tank too and probably might try to go into VA or weeping myself![]()
Jewels of the Sun
Tears of the Moon
Heart of the Sea
Especially when tanks try to tank her sideways at the edge, so that when inevitably she changes sides and immediately cuts without taking time to turn the whole raid gets wiped out. So many times have I seen the entire arena turn orange. At least with the increased gear levels it's become somewhat survavable, but still. Please stop tanking Calofisteri up against the wall. Just keep in the middle and, as a matter of fact, how about just don't twirl her around at all. By the way I now want to make a drk alt named Darkness McEdgelord. XD
