Absolutely not.

While I am aware that people intentionally DC in hopes they'll get kicked from a duty that they don't want to do, a lot of us have legitimate internet issues some times. For whatever reason, my ISP likes to "work" on their little connection box literally twice a week (always see a truck sitting there messing around with it), and my ethernet cable loves to derp on me all the time. I 90k about ten times everyday COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT because my PS4 will, for some reason, not register that I have my ethernet cable connected.

I know people DC on purpose, but a lot of us it happens randomly, and definitely not by choice. I don't want to be kicked from a dungeon, suffer a 30-min penalty, and then wait another 30 mins in a DPS queue after that.

I still don't know if I can get behind this. Because some times my DCs end up being lobby server errors, and it completely kicks me out of the client. So I have to log back in and everything. And I have a friend that plays on an older laptop, and sometimes his game just crashes and shuts down completely. I feel like it would be too difficult to tell between an intentional disconnect, and a true error/client crash.

don't like some particular dungeon (or group) so leave? Punish!
not following someone else's pre-ordained methods? Punish!

yeah OP I'm gonna say no as well. With all the DDoS's Attacks and Level 3 going down hitting alot of FFXIV players with 2002 and 90006 errors. You can't tell if a Player disconnections are real or false. So you cant Penalize honesty players because of a few bad ones.

I honestly don't think this should be implemented at all its more likely to tick people off more than anything else as the players that are having legit issues with their internet would be penalized for something they have no control over. Yes while there are a few bad apples that do this intentionally I just don't think this solution that you are suggesting is the proper solution to fixing the problem.

Its annoying, but its not something people should be punished over, in most cases, its not something they can prepare for, my internet works almost flawlessly, but there are cases where even I get D/Cd (such as our ISP undergoing unscheduled maintenance or a power cut) if it happens at the beginning of a dungeon, you can still progress, just more slowly than usual.

Its also a good laugh when people try to DC to avoid getting the penalty, wasted a Bards time in World of Darkness back in 2.5 who wanted out because his chest-piece didn't drop, when he came back, he refused to fight and since this was when it was new, there were a few wipes, it was funny to see the chat clogged up with his rage. We simply refused to kick him and told him to eat the lockout, in the end, he wasted more time crying over not being kicked than he did if he just left.

I plan to take a different approach. If they cry and refuse to leave at the beginning of a dungeon, I'll get everyone else to take it nice and slowly. Then, right before the final boss, kick the whiner. Then they've probably wasted more time than if they just ATE the 30m penalty. Won't always do that though, depends on levels and stuff.
