disconnecting in the first 5 minutes of a duty should give you the 30m penalty

My 128kbps will disagree with you and your kind OP. Sure a few handful abuse d/cing to get out of a duty, but some of us are stuck running on data plans/safety mode (I have to use Verizon because I have no other ISP option where I am atm until TWC comes in next year). I don't d/c for the hell of it, my connection is crap sometimes when stuck on Verizon crappy safety mode. So nope, I don't agree with your 30m penalty just for d/cing.

- Have connection issues
- Internet might go off
- Router might need to be restarted
- Light might go out
- The game says you are still logged in when trying to reconnect, hence will take even more time to enter the game

So people should be penalized from something that's not their fault?

I bet you don't even DPS at all as Healer to speed things up and you can't wait 5-10m for people to come back.

sure your other points might be valid, but why do you auto-assume i don't dps when i heal lol. why are you so defensive for no reason? relax my dude.

That said, I've been in parties where we all agreed not to kick a tank that obviously DC'd on purpose, and it's hilarious when they come back. I highly recommend it if you're not in a rush!

i think about doing this a lot but ultimately i don't want to blow 10 minutes to laugh at a guy for a bit.

If it's a trial that person will get replaced eventually. If it's a dungeon it's not the end of the world to reque for it. If it is the end of the world and you don't have extra 30 minutes there are other options for capping stuff/getting experience. If you have enough time on your hands to play for hours none of that is actually a problem.

I see no reason for that penalty because the offline person isn't 1) Destroying your gaming experience 2) Making any long run difference on your gaming experience 3) Preventing you from vote kicking and then resuming your gaming experience.

This has literally never happened to me after 2155 instances. I feel this isn't really a common issue worth addressing.

Checked the Lodestone. Has 60 in most classes, and no class under 50. Not new at all.

i figure if you disconnect in the first 5 minutes of the dungeon and never reconnect that either:
a) your internet is so bad right now that you wouldn't be able to play for the next 30 minutes anyway
or b) you're gaming the system to get vote kicked for being """"""""offline""""""" so you don't have to do the duty in question.

I disagree, it would bring unnecessary penalties to players who really suffer from disconnection while not solving the problem since then the "fake-disconnected" would just stay AFK instead, or do crap job on purpose to get kicked.

And you can always choose to not kick them, like for AFKers and such, not allowing them to bypass the system.
There is not much alternative, regardless of the method involved by a player who want to trick its way out of a dungeon by manipulating others to kick him. You either give-in, or don't if you can afford the time. Personally in such context I will usually wait for the 15 minutes to be able to vote Cancelling the dungeon, as to not encourage the bad player from getting their way.

I'd say penalty for those that seek a re-queue after being kicked. How to tell if a person forced a disconnection or lost the connection without being guilty, that's kinda hard to find out. Specially using Duty Finder. I'd guess it should be enforced as long as there are some well established rules. I'd say give it a trial run, let's do some social experiments and you are all the mice in the lab!
