Hot Damn, the squeaky wheel does get the grease after all! thanks to all the qq
Queue times will raise i guess^^ but a needed change
I'll wait to actually see if they did what they claim they are doing in season. This was really needed though. You compare the top 100s from season 1 and 2 and you can see such a drastic plunge in points and win rates in season 2 compared to season 1. And while it certainly can't all be contributed to matchmaking it did play a major role in it. On primal season 2's numbers 39 to 100 don't even crack the top 100 in season 1.
What you saying? Players from 39-100 sucks and only with the mess up match making can they be in top 100? Not so sure about that?
The most disappointing thing is that there's still no rank decay though.
While I do believe Season 1's overall top 100 was much stronger than season 2's (though I'll admit I have no quantifiable evidence of this beyond the points and win percentages from season 1's standings) my point wasn't that players 39 - 100 "suck." What I was trying to say was that the matchmaking algorithm from season 2 compared to season 1 made for an even more unpredictable ranking board and the ranking numbers fell off substantially compared to season 1. There were no diamonds in season 2 and season 2's point rankings ended up being much lower than season 1 (at least on primal).
Aside from a significant portion of the season 1s PVP population not returning to season 2 the other significant change between season 1 and 2 was that matchmaking algorithm which is why I feel it should shoulder some of the blame in why the standard to get into the top 100 dropped off so drastically. Once you got to Gold in season 1 while you could still seesaw in points you generally never really fell out of the tier (at least I didnt), but this is not so in season 2 because of the practical guarentee that you will have unranked players on your team the higher your point totals. At least in season 1 once you reached gold unranked players were barred from your lobbies disabling that excuse for any personal point turnover.
To me the reason why season 2 didn't have as many players returning because at the start SE announced the reward was basically the same as season 1. I would not be surprised if season 4 is the same. Pairing with unrank / bronze as a higher rank means you really need to play as your peak to try to turn the match in your favor.
Same thing on aether. Several average healers broke very high ranks because they kept getting the luck of the draw and queued into unranked healers on the enemy team each game. This typically happened during off hours so they didn't face much resistance in their climb
