I'll reserve judgement until I actually see it in practice ... but it seems good on paper.

Having a decreased point reduction for suffering a loss is definitely a good thing, although it would have been better if they had included "new players" as one of the factors contributing in how many points are actually lost.

Locking participants into actual Jobs, rather than classes, is definitely a good thing. That's just a no-brainer and should have been implemented in season 1, so it's about time.

Rank qualifying point adjustments is probably a nice change as well. It would be nice if it gives some of the best of the best the opportunity to actually work their way into Diamond rank, for a change, but we'll see how things go.

The only thing I'm really suspicious about is the matchmaking algorithms. In theory, it will hurt our queue times, but after Season 2 it's definitely necessary. The only question is if it actually works.

I saw the exact same thing in the black week on Primal. There was one night, in particular, in which I was slotted against the same platinum healer for 4 or 5 consecutive matches, whereas the healer on my team was unranked. At the time, I didn't mind all that much because my season ended before 3.4, but if I'd still been in the running then I would have been livid with that matchmaking. I felt especially bad for the unranked healer, because the end results of each match made it pretty clear where the difference was across the two teams. I imagine that would have been fairly demoralizing.
