Should Dancer branch off Rogue/Thief or Pugilist?

I don't get it.

The line between dance and kata is an extraordinarily thin one. For folks enthusiastic about the Dancer job, it's easy to point out how very differently the two are dressed, how dancelike her initial movements are, and so on and so forth.

Even if you find it unlikely to be true, it shouldn't be so hard to see why folks are grasping at these straws.

As for why a MNK would be fighting with a DNC, if DNC is an Ala Mihgan job (most likely developed as a method to continue practicing combat while under oppressive Garlean rule, passing it off as a harmless pastime whenever the authorities started getting suspicious), they likely have the same roots. The man is practicing traditional MNK martial arts, while the woman is practicing the new DNC style martial arts. It's not unheard of for practitioners of different styles of martial arts to spar with one another.

Honestly, it's most likely a pipe dream, and she's just a MNK wearing an exaggeratedly sexy version of the modified qipao women in martial arts flicks sometimes wear. That doesn't mean it's not fun to speculate!

Thankfully this, at least, shouldn't be a problem. SE has acknowledged that certain quests - including job quests - will be accessible in Stormblood without having to complete Heavensward MSQ.

Endgame, on the other hand, will likely still be locked away. So you may still burn out, but at least you'll be able to do it while playing as the new jobs!

that's sort of an eastern thing - female martial artists are fighting in robes/dresses, and they make flashy combat scenes centered around extravagant movements "because that's obviously how women dress and fight, using their dresses as weapons and feint-attacks, and make ppl think they are more frail than they are"

If Dancer is identical to Monk, then what's the point of adding it?
ya ppl have been grasping at straws, concerning new jobs, since ARR was released.
So far SMN was a disappointment (Egis) NIN is neither THF nor dodge tank, and DRK wasn't dps.
RDM probably won't be what fans expect, and DNC isn't in the teaser
Speculation is fine, except when it makes no sense, which is most of the time when ppl speculate about future jobs.

Even with any 100% concrete proof that the woman in red in the teaser is a monk and is in no way, shape, or form a dancer... There's nothing preventing a dancer from coming in anyways. I recall some people pointing out that fighting with dances could let them train more openly without the Garleans becoming suspicious (they're just dancing, right?), so that could be a viable reason that dancer gets added in.

Somehow I doubt the Garleans would see people dancing and be like, "Oh, let those crazy kids have their fun." Based on what we've seen, I would assume it's more akin to, "What are you dogs doing dancing instead of working, back to the mines!" followed by beatings and weeping and gnashing of teeth, so on and so forth.

yes but apparently Yoshi said on Fanfest...after the teaser was unveiled....that it's 2 monks fighting...so, end of speculation
But yes, only RDM has been confirmed so far, as to how many jobs will be added, and what they are, is anybodies guess.
there may be DNC too ofc. we'll see. but the female is still a mnk.

Really? Where's the official confirmation? It's as much speculation as Dancer. Just because there was Hint it's still speculation, not confirmed.

it's not as much as Dancer, it's significantly more than Dancer though it's not confirmed.

I'm pretty sure he said that the WoL specifically was a monk...

...Not that I'm sure how this doesn't match up exactly what I said in my post otherwise...
