Ya, if wanna put that into years, 2017 we'll see 4.0, judging from the current 2yr cycle for expansions by the time we arrive at 8.0 it would be 8yrs aka 2025, which is quite some time. So if IL only reaches that point by 8.0, you might then see a restructuring similar to what WoW did later on when their IL was getting to high.
Yeah. It's all about doing better, doing more damage. Now... maybe if substats made a noticeable difference, that could be used to extend our ilvls by adding more substats to gear instead of upping. Or adding additional affects to gear of the same ilvl to give us something to work towards before we move to the next tier.
Instead of upgrading 10ilvls with tome gear enhancements they could have the basic tome gear without substats then the upgrades be with substats. Again that would require a reworking of substats, accuracy especially.
Iunno.
Would have a upward trend but would extend the usefulness of each "ilvl"

not unless your accuracy is at 60%
but some skills have low chance to crit, but not normal hits.
at best it would be like normal hit, but low chance to crit for lots of extra crit damage, in which case the XIV RNG would screw up the chances like with gather/craft.
I'd like to some kind of number crunch, sooner rather than later. I care less about the iLevel numbers than the combat numbers they can produce. Even numbers in the 10,000 range feel like there's a lot of wasted screen space on the 100s, 10s, and 1s places. I certainly don't want to be getting into a situation where we crit for 100,000 and the screen is just filled with irrelevant digits. It'd be like at level 10 if they were telling us we did 10.0789 damage.
Do we really need to know about the last "2" on an item that gives +532 strength?
Already numbers are starting to clip into other parts of the UI, I mean just look at the poor "healing potency" line. If only for readability I'd love to see the scale condensed just a bit.
I just took a gander at this and you're right. Can't wait for item level 800 -,-I'd like to some kind of number crunch, sooner rather than later. Indeed.
I personally prefer vertical progression for it allows me access and play content I have skipped earlier because I did not want to bother with the difficulty of it. Why I also like the new Unsync feature of FFXIV Duties.
And because I get bored if my character stops "evolving". I see my character kinda like a seed that grows more and more toward a giant tree. If my character is just about remaining the same little plant with the only change being the various stronger or better looking pots I hold it in, then I'm not satisfied.
