If they would to release viera im pretty sure they would rather use the FF12 model than tactics since 12 is way more "human" thus fitting the rule of the game

They actually do have rabbit feet in FFXII (and only three toes).

While they definitely take a more human look in XII, they still have claws and digitigrade(?) feet. SE would replace those if they were to be brought into XIV's playable world.

We have Vanu Vanu and Gnath costumes in game. Closest thing we will get.

But I want a real Beastman glamour. Vanu Vanu costume just... it's a little flat and not as puffy

Regarding choosing between more options for existing races or having a new race, I don't see why a choice must be made. With SE dropping PS3 support for Stormblood, they're going to have more resources to play with this time round.

To the Au Ra that are thinking "no" to the idea of new races, while playing the current newest race and couldn't be happier, please spare some empathy for those of us that want Viera/something else?

To the Miqo'te that are thinking "no" to Hyur with bunny ears, how is that any worse than Miqo'te, who are basically Hyur with cat ears and a tail?

If they do add Viera though, I hope they're at least Fran's height of 6'2 (187cm) without her ears and 7'1 (215cm) with them included.

I'd love if we got a reverse of the Aura for the Viera. The females being taller than the guys. I mean Fran was the tallest I'm pretty sure. She was in heels. Make them tall as Highlanders or Elezen and Elegent them up. And make the guys small.

I used to want new races until I realized SE seems to have some limitations. Maybe a programming limitation, or how much information is sent with all our chars appearance details. In that case I'd rather the extra "information" or whatever go toward more customization options for the races we already have.

Also I don't have much faith in a new race I'd actually want to try out. Au ra was kinda just thrown into the game with barely a mention to their lore (as far as I've noticed) and I don't even recall an abundance of au ra npc's in HW either. The original concept art they had for Au ra was also WAYYYY cooler than what we ended up with. Major mistake.

Because of SE trying to make this new race as a surprise during the course of ARR and that they came from an entirely different continent, the race had a rough start to be introduced lore-wise.
The Doman refugees Yugiri might've had with her could also be Raen. Xaela are nomads and as well had their homeland invaded by the Garlean empire. Being an adventurer is also a thing.

So those are the only possible reasons how the Au Ra came to the continent.

Sadly, it was made very clear that Beast Tribes will never be playable due to lore reasons (and gear design and 'not-cute' reasons). Of course, there's still the option to make 'Beastman Glamour' or something. Just apply, for example, a Vanu Vanu Prism on the body and bam, now you're a Vanu Vanu. Most SE would need to do with that is redo certain animations, especially for 'important' cutscenes. No gear will need to be redesigned and since it's Glamour, you're not breaking lore.

This is still a pretty significant undertaking. After all, player characters have access to a LOT of attack animations. You'll need to design movements for Vanu Vanu that allow flips and kicks on MNK, elaborate spinning slashes on NIN, so on and so forth.

That said, this is STILL more likely to happen than actually allowing people to play the game as beastmen, as presumably no armor redesign would be required (the Vanu glamour would cover up all your armor).

No gear will need to be redesigned and since it's Glamour, you're not breaking lore.

It still would because some city-states or settlements aren't fine with beastmen, and people would think that you are one because of your glamour.

Since we got Au'ra already I'm quite sure we won't see Gria in the game. Would love to have Viera, though I don't see it happening due to lore reasons. Couldn't explain a male Viera and couldn't introduce a female only race.
Winged characters could hardly be introduced due to massive clipping of the wings, which makes birds quite impossible as well.

Possible besides Viera would be for example Burmecian or Cleyran, Garif (same problem as with Viera, so maybe introduce Viera for female characters and Garif for male characters? But shitstorm would be incoming), Padjal (which would be hard to explain with lore as well, sadly), and perhaps a few others I missed.

Hydaelyn Viera lore doesn't have to be the same or similar to the Ivalice Viera. They might not even have the same name if it's confirmed.

Also Padjal will never be playable. They are a rare breed of Hyur, blessed by the elementals, usually becoming devouts and serve for the elementals and the Black Shroud (or Twelveswood as they call it).

I'm not sure why this is a fear. Even in Ivalice, there are male Viera, but they are even more isolationist than the females, and simply live separately from females. They reproduce sexually.

They just never wrote in a male village. :/


.... And initially, Miqo'te were female only, and Roegadyn and Highlander Hyur were male only, so I don't know if they would or wouldn't do a single gender race.
