30+ pages of dancer debate just on this thread alone (this is far from the only one) based on a few seconds of solo martial arts practice. I just got tired of it. Especially since there is very little discussion regarding red mage (job that we actually know will come with Stormblood) the potential new raids (that are said to be veeery final fantasy) or bascially anything that is known to be in the expansion.
I like dancer as a class. I want it to be in the game at one point. BUT at present it really doesn't warrant the attention it is getting. And I sure as hell don't want it to be a monk clone. That would be boring. And I hate boring stuff.
You always have the option of starting a thread yourself about a subject that pleases you more. That's why this one was created, because just like you someone was also displeased with the idea of the attention dancer was getting without confirmation.
I would love to discuss about red mage and it's potential as a job, I'm just too lazy to start a thread about it myself. And I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people wanting to discuss and speculate Red Mage just as much as dancer, but the reason to why this one in special gets so much attention is because of the whole "It's not a dancer, you're wrong and delusional" way of thinking that some people here are having. Like it was pointed out, we don't have strong evidence it's a dancer but we also don't have confirmation it isn't. All we can do is speculate and that's what everybody's doing, wether they are right or not. Worth mentioning that it's just a trailer and that the game itself will have nowhere near the same "action combat" or martial art style we're seeing there, even on the confirmed WoL monk. Plus it's not like this is the only thread on the forums, there's plenty of other things to discuss about or to read. If I get tired of the 30+ pages of dancer debate here is because I chose to read those 30+ pages to begin with, instead of any other thread created here.
I do agree with you that some of the reasons to why she is a dancer are way too daydreamy, but some of the reasons to why she isn't follows up the same path. If there is no 100% proof or evidence that she is a dancer or not, it's up to debate. If that debate takes 100+ pages there's nothing we can do about it, because everyone has the right to speak what they are thinking about a debateable subject without being belittled for what they believe due to the lack of more information. That's the whole point of speculating something.

This.
And I can't help but want to laugh out loud at the tags located below. "it's a monk you fools" is pure gold. Thanks, Crysten!
I also wonder how much of what goes on in the North American General Discussion forum actually reaches Yoshi P's eyes and ears. Ultimately, I wonder how hard he's laughing at us right now.

Sorry, but I understand where Balipu is coming from. I can't say I'm personally as bothered by it, but he's essentially correct.
I mean, it's similar to what I said before when I posted in this thread a few pages back, but I honestly still don't understand where the idea of her being a dancer even comes from. Because she doesn't fucking dance. There isn't a single moment in the trailer where she does anything about which you could reasonably say: "This looks like dancing, more than it look like pure martial arts."
I mean, yes, martial arts forms do have some resemblance to "dancing", in a very loose, very vague sense, but an actual "dancer" CLASS would - I would think?? - be more about dancing, and not forms that "kinda look a bit like dancing", wouldn't it?
Put another way: a dancer class would draw from (and in FF games, always has drawn from, to my knowledge) actual, formal forms of dancing as it's primary movement set, both in terms of concept (i.e. skills having names like "Samba" or simply "Dance" as with Mog in FFVI) and in the visuals. Any martial abilities, anything that looks much more strongly like "martial arts" than "dancing", and certainly anything that is a direct, hard strike which is the vast majority of what the Lady in Red does, would be secondary, if it's present at all. And would people really WANT a dancer class that fights (and, by extension, plays) this much like a monk? Wouldn't you want a dancer that does something DIFFERENT, that doesn't just contribute to the party's progress by imitating a monk but with some extra sleeve attack? Wouldn't you want a dancer who dances?
Don't get me wrong, I am neither saying I don't want dancer, nor that I think it's impossible we will get dancer. All I AM saying is that the Lady in Red doesn't dance! And I don't get why people think she's somehow representative of a dancer, or serves as confirmation that we are getting a dancer job.

That'd be where the idea started. People were already speculating DNC as a possibility of a job in the next expansion. Once that teaser went up, the Lady in Red (Scarlet Witch!!!! JK) was indeed performing a martial arts form that, for just one moment, appeared dance-like, before it became apparent that it was a martial arts form. That one moment was all it took to create his huge ripple effect that became this thread (and others).
I've been flip-flopping between the two sides; because the speculation behind this lady is so big, it's easy for me to argue for and against both sides.

consider the following: what if people are talking about dancer because that is what they want to talk about?
i'm not talking about red mage because i don't care about red mage. i'm not talking about raids because i've seen exactly zero pieces of information about them to discuss. and tbh, no one is going to stop talking about the (possible) parts of the expansion that THEY want to talk about, just to protect your pathetic feelings about what we should and should not be talking about.
if you've had enough of this thread, stop reading it. lmao it's that simple.
Watch the trailer at 1:44 to the end, they are mimicking each other literally blow for blow.
And you keep bringing up the argument that the Lady in Red has a different weapon which doesn't make her a Monk. Well, so does the majority of special NPCc in this game. It's been said before in this thread that Raubahn dual wields = doesn't make him a ninja. Oh, and he also has a huge axe, but he is referred to as a Gladiator. Merlwyb has dual pistols as well (Players can't do that). A certain Lalafell Thamaturge in the BLM story uses Veritas Aquas(sp?) as a healing spell. Why do you elude this point but then go on (as your main argument might I add) keep saying that she isn't a Monk because of her "weapon"?
To me this looks like she is using her cloth as a weapon, that yellow thing is clearly a slash animation.
Now i'll point you to my comment here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post3907486
Now watch the Heavensward Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4phUCJlomPo
There's absolutely no hints at the new Jobs there, yet in the Stormblood Trailer they show Two Characters, one of which is unknown.
Why not just show the Derplander Monk like they show the Derplander Dragoon only in the HW Trailer?
Uhm if you dont want to discuss dancer or the possibilty that this woman might be a dancer or not, then how about just ignoring this topic? One is not forced to take part in any discussion that is going on in the forum and I would never click on a thread if I find the topic to be boring or not worth a discussion. By posting such a thing in the thread you either let it live on even longer or you could create more hateful posts as an answer to yours and many things more.
How would you like it, if you want to speculate about something that you find fun and people post in your thread that you should stop this joke! I mean Balipu did you not create a thread about Vampires in Eorzea? About wanting them in the game and compare them to other FF games? There was no real evidence of their existence and yet you created a thread. So should the discussion there stop too since there is no real proof anyway? (And before someone takes this the wrong way: I love to speculate about things so I love threads like that because its interesting to see what people come up with.)
I am kinda getting a little tired of people that are eager to discuss the topic they like even if its just pure speculation but take down any topic which they believe to be nonsense even so other people are interested in discussing it..(not only meant at Balipu)
I dont really care if she is a dancer or a monk or something else. I just find the discussion interesting and seeing the end results after all the speculation. Maybe nobody is right and she is her own class with is not available to us. Who knows. There is evidence for both sides and even though I dont really know older FF games I did see some similarities to her with dancers from old games and at the same time I could also just see her as a monk that may had more than one teacher thus having a different fighting style..but as long as the devs, Yoshida or the game tells dont us, we wont 100% know what she is, so saying that any of the side has no arguments is bad..especially since there are more than enough pages with quite good evidence for both sides. (Theoretically the CGI trailer could show us a dancer that for the sake of letting us speculate does not truly show us how the class plays, or maybe that NPC is a combination of monk and dancer thus showing us not truly what a dancer could do) You know, you can take a lot of arguments and flip them around, even more if we dont know the whole truth.
And like I already wrote once, the reaction of the crowd at the stream was quite telling. So either this was done on purpose and they wanted us to believe that she might be a new class or maybe they did not thing that people take it that way. But I believe that SE know what they do and that this was on purpose..if for pure trolling the audience or for giving us a hint..this remains to be seen.
About tags: There was once a thread about offensive tags and the devs did say there that such tags are against the ToS because they are mean. So lets just remember that tags like "its a monk you fools" which even shows the username can be reported and that they can take actions against them. Putting insulting tags down there is imo just showing that the person has no argument left.![]()
