Imagine you don't know Raubahn (he's a new character) and you know that the new X-Pac focusses around GLD's...
You see the Derplander (as GLD with Sword and Shield) fighting Raubahn (as GLD with Sword&Sword)...
and everyone shouts "WOW, Ninja confirmed!!!! Just look at it, it wears two weapons and [insert 15 year old picture of FF rogue npc with similarities]!!!!"

technically he can't wear 2 weapon anymore and even if they look like sword, ninja use 2 DAGGER.... no sword ^^

You mean like this other class which most often uses daggers in almost every FF iteration? Called Dancer.


People talk sooo much about "Oh, Summoner is totally not an FF summoner!" or "DRK is totally not an FF dark Knight", but this ist ok?!

Profile of dancer:
"Dancers most often equip daggers, such as the Dancing Dagger, which is usually associated with the Dancer class. Their ability, Dance, performs one of several actions chosen at random, and their stats are some of the lowest of all classes."

FF IV: Calca has a skill called Jive, which performs random effects on enemies. Brina has a skill called Dance, which casts random white magic on the party.
FF V: The Dancer uses its various dancing skills to affect the enemy party in different ways.
FF VI: Mog's Dances are based on the terrain and perform various random attacks depending on which Dance he uses. Mog learns new Dances by fighting on new terrain, and when using a dance that belongs to a different terrain than the one currently in use, he has a chance of failing.

Sooo.. from a blade-dancing (rogue like), debuffing/healing supporter they turned him to almost-only monk'ish fist-fighter.

Nothing, except that she uses a Dress with a weapon attached and the fact that she actually dances (but absolutly separated from the actual fighting) suggests that this is a dancer.

Every other aspect (kicks, punchs, battle-pose, chakra) scream "MONK!!!".

The fact that we know that no one rivals the 2 existing monk factions in hand-2-hand combat suggests that, too. Garleans even wanted to wipe them out, but still there are those dancers at the same strenght level?!
Why do disciples of Rhalgr even care about all those inner chakra stuff, if you can just go to dancing school and get as strong as them in terms of punchs and kicks.

That's the facts. We have the dancing and the weapon. And we have everything monk-like else. As I said, don't make Raubahn a NIN just because of his 2 weapons and don't make Papalymo a DoW because of his plate gauntlets. Don't make Ysalea a Summoner just because she summoned Shiva.

i don't see the point of this thread anymore ,since a couple of person, not enough to ignore strange fact that make the girl don't look like a monk. (monk of FF14) they are ending to use counter argument empty of sense.

Raubhan was always showed as a gladiator, he is the ancien great champion of the collisseum, but he have always use 1 sword and a shield. plus ninja like said before don't use sword, they use dagger that not the same thing.

neophyte one more time, this is FF14 not the previous one... the machinist in FFT don't have a turret that he can deploy, do that make the machinist in FF14 not machinist....
use the previous FF as base to say they will do this is not working, why? because this game you use are solo game that are not mmorpg the gameplay is quite different and what you can make into a solo game can't work in mmorpg. that why when the red mage will be added i'm sure some people will end displeased because it will not be like the one of the solo game.... a bit like the summoner!

instead to find a reason of why it will not happend or why this girl can't be, accept that some point don't match up and can leave open speculation is better than act like you act right now. especially since most of your point are empty and don't work.

i wish people talking about monk was taking time to look at the monk more in the game...

1) monk chakra don't appear like this, this part of the video is more a build up effect of the cgi
2) kick? monk have 2 kick skill over all him skill, most of him skill are punching!
3) stance? one is using a karate like stance while the other use a kung fu one. one is hard fist while the other is open palm strike that two different style.
4) punch? like said before most of her punch are used open palms, but this you did miss it.

and finally it's the most important part: in ala miggho only one type of school of monk did exist. that did later split into 2. it's part of the lore. the two school still use the same style.... the difference is in the goal of the two school. not in the style.... exept here this girl use a totally different martial art. if she is from ala miggho, where did she learn this martial art? her movement are too much stylized or mastered for be auto learned skill... you see that the point that seems to be left out by people saying she is a monk.

the lore say us she can't be a monk, since her fighting style is soo much different. and don't match the principle of the school of the monk! that is based on power! when she is not based on power but on agility! then do she is a dancer, who know, do she is a monk of Final Fantasy 14 world? no!

i will end with this: we can have another martial artist that will not be monk, that will have a different fighting style or approach of the combat or even different weapon, what she have! who she is? we will know sooner or later...

because never yoshida have said it's 2 monk (i was looking the fanfest and never he did said it!) and when someone was about to ask about her he was shutdown in the Q/A meaning they don't want to talk of her or her style for now. if she was a monk, it was easy to simply say, they are 2 monk, what they have never said!!! actually he only have said that the wol will be monk, why not say that the girl is one too at the same time.... why ellude this? it will have not give us more information about her.
