PotD is a great way to 'try out' jobs at level 60 before you commit to leveling them for real. If you're unsure whether you'll enjoy a job's playstyle at max level, it's worth spending an hour or so in there and trying it out.

For trying it out a bit yes, but you won't learn anything about the real playstyle of a class since the mobs die way to fast.
Yes of course, but it's nevertheless good for small (but important) things you've always been curious about but can't try in person. Like maybe you think Fire 4 is really cool and are considering a BLM, but you realize you hate juggling Enochian for it. I won't even get into how MCH and BRD flip playstyles completely at 52.
For those meticulous about hotbar management, another benefit of PotD is it 'gives' you the tooltips for those skills ahead of time - which could be weeks before you actually learn them for real outside of PotD. It lets you do things like figure out how to arrange them on your hotbars ahead of time, which means when you hit 60 for 'real', you're ready to go instead of having to spend a day or two figuring out a hotbar setup that works for you. Just be careful not to drag them off, otherwise they'll disappear for good and you'll need to go into PotD to get them back again.
want to relax? I suggest FSH. it's very relaxing, you can go at whatever speed you choose, and you're not holding back anyone else
Bard is the easiest, hand down.
