I thought mnk's used two, one in each hand...

If we can start using weapons outside the norm then I wanna use staff on my smn :/

Merlwyb, dual wields pistols. Raubhan used to dual wield swords. Some of the yellow jackets and sky pirates dual wield a sword and a pistol. Thancred, currently dual wields a sword and a dagger. NPCs aren't bound by the same rules of 'what can we equip.' If they want this 'mystery' monk to use a single bladed gauntlet, then they'll do it.
