But FFXIV is not ment to be a fast paced game where you enter and then is done 15-30 min later. It's meant to take time.
If people want to play those kind of games then there are plenty of them out there. Don't come here and try and change something that isn't broken just because you find it boring.
There are plenty of games on the market just for that reason. A game might not appeal to some, but there are plenty more to choose from. Everything can't fit like a glove.

One thing is what you think FFXIV is meant to be and another what the devs think FFXIV is meant to be, seeing how they already confirmed you won't need HW MSQ for this seems like you were already proven wrong. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post3263909

That is from 2015. He did many recent interviews and said he wants people to enjoy the story as it continues but other features such as jobs won't be locked behind the MSQs.

If you don't have a source of him saying MSQ will be required then you're not really countering my source.

I started a thread a while back which you can gladly search for since I won't be but here is part of what he said.

GE: You previously said that 4.0 won’t be story gated. We were wondering if you could elaborate on what your plans are for that?

Yoshida: In terms of the story- the narratives are continuous. The expectation is that the players will start with ARR and continue through the expansion. The lesson with having 3.0 released was that all of the content of the expansion wasn’t accessible until you beat ARR. The feedback, especially from the Western audiences, was that players weren’t able to access any of the Heavensward content until having completed 2.0. We would still like players to get through the story content, but some of the elements in the expansion we’re considering letting players access certain elements without having to complete content from ARR

*my thread was started because he talks about skip potions in this interview*

Actually, it is. Yoshi has explained it himself time and again. Overlooking the flaw of the player queue, the concept of this game is that those with limited schedules can find fulfillment within 2-3 hours playtime a day on average. Palace, Ex Trials, Duty Roullette, it all exists within supplementary form that you can throw yourself into it and make progress. Whether by a little or a lot, it's stupid easy to cap tomes for the week not even doing all your roulettes, or gathering tokens to turn in for your primal weapon, doing last turn of alex for the weekly, the weekly drops of 24-mans, even running Palace or Aqua a couple times for the night, making money or getting a weapon. And that's just battle content. I've easily leveled a crafting class doing moogle dailies, and a gatherer doing GC turn ins.

Someone who has only so much time on their hands can easily manage a play schedule to get the most out of every hour they have.

Its fine to not have much time to play but why does everything need to cater to a player who can't play much vs a player who can play a couple hours a day? (And I don't mean the people who play like 12-15 hours a day)

It's been Yoshi's design vision this whole time. Especially in Japan, so much free time can be a precious commodity. He understands the working adult and wanted to provide a game that to them has a far reaching end that can be attained through minimal playtime. Other players of differing play times have merely taken to it and attached to it ourselves. Though those of us with much more expanding free time may begin to outweigh the player whom Yoshi aimed for, it'd be against his very philosophy to then abandon them. As now they are still working to provide content that is fulfilling to those like me, but we will never be the core target, much as that may hurt.

Meanwhile, that is precisely how our gearing process is set up - 15-25 minutes of expert a day 5 days a week and you're at the top end of progression for a non-raider. Most of our dungeons actually take roughly as long. Ever wondered "why"? That's the casual pace! You aren't meant to commit for much longer at a time. "It's meant to take time", yeah right...

The difference is that FFXIV (and WoW and most other MMORPGs) also have a great many timesinks in between - walking to a spot, talking to a random NPC etc. And that is why MMORPG as a whole are in decline while other games prosper.

I thought we were talking about the lvl1-50(60). Well, if we weren't talking about the MSQ then sure, a faster paced DF would be great. I keep hearing that DPS have to wait for a long time. It's due time it gets updated.
