I sincerely hope that was sarcasm.
Punishing players for the choice they make is a great way to give your game a bad reputation and drive away further interested players.
This doesn't make sense and I wish the xiv team really evaluate their decision... the expansion should be the point for new players to get on board for all the players to do something fresh and different not continue in a story that's been going on for 3 years Final Fantasy is a story driven IP but there has to be a point where you realize that you can't continue on in the story the way you're running it the only requirement to access the expansion or play in the expansion should be at least completely up to level 30 in A Realm Reborn. The expansion should have content for low-level mid-level and high-level content. An expansion should cater to everyone in the playerbase new players old players returning players it's unforgiving to force players to play through three years of story just to access the expansion.
Just make sure they lock the Duty Finder to that server alone aswell. I don't wanna get teamed up with lvl 60's on their first day at the game.
Precisely. Jackpot. These games have gained massive traction because they forego things such as pre-quests and timesinks in the form of fetch quests or expansive gear grinds.
If you are arguing that WoW is losing players because they are catering to "mainstream" players, I think it should be noted that they are most likely losing players to a game that is just plain "better" at catering to these players. That is all.
But FFXIV is not ment to be a fast paced game where you enter and then is done 15-30 min later. It's meant to take time.
If people want to play those kind of games then there are plenty of them out there. Don't come here and try and change something that isn't broken just because you find it boring.
There are plenty of games on the market just for that reason. A game might not appeal to some, but there are plenty more to choose from. Everything can't fit like a glove.

These games are from a completely different genere. It's like saying that horror games lost popularity because Driving Simulators have quicker play sessions.
I agree as well. I would ignore and block anyone who bought or skipped anything just because they didn't feel like doing it. That mentality and people who support it can go play together but I won't blink an eye to kick someone from my PT if they were grouped with me. I don't support hand outs in any shape or form.
I wouldn't call it punishment , I'm just simply saying if its that many people that don't care about the other aspects of the game then it shouldn't be an issue getting a few thousand people on a server with that mindset. For instance if you wanted to bring a friend to the game you could do the samething make an alt and just jump to sixty and you could do all the content with them because you wouldn't have to grind msq.
I thought expansion meant "expand and add to the previous thing"? How then is it so unfair that any expansion is locked behind the basic and previous versions of something?
I seriously don't understand people who want an expansion without doing the basics first, and even complain that said expansion didn't turn the current game into something else...
"duh the game works the same as before, thought the game was gonna be different, I expected a completely different game than FF14 with this expansion duh, and I gotta do main story to access it? Bah /rant in the forums about how unfair SE treats their customers"
But why? If someone is pushing esc/numbpad 0 through every cutscene and having a friend or two murder them through all those dungeons that get in the way, they're only going through a thankless chore from their perspective. What does it matter if they want to throw an extra $50 at Square Enix to skip the content they're already skipping?I did not say story matters more then content as MSQ is be all end all get out of here with sticking words in my mouth. I said 1.0 did not fail cause it was too much like XI and for a FF game on top of the content the story is also a big part of the game. They want to press esc and skip the cut scenes fine I don't care ahead go but you should still have to go through it. Which I believe is the main point of these thread. People are against a skip all button not you pressing the esc button to skip the CS.
Then stop complaining about tomestones and the cash shop. If old content needs to be consistently populated, tomestones is among the better ways to do it precisely because of its simplicity. Without a constant influx of new players, Square isn't making money. So they have further incentive to make exclusive mounts and sell them back to us. Have to ask though, would you kick someone who skipped every cutscene and just had their friends carry them through baby dungeons unsynced? It's essentially the same thing except it took them a month instead of two minutes.I agree as well. That mentality and people who support it can go play together but I won't blink an eye to kick someone from my PT if they were grouped with me. I don't support hand outs in any shape or form.
