Why samurai is much more possible as a dps than you think

If SAM was a tank, they would have to work really hard to differentiate it from DRK

If it's a tank, I'd like to see something akin to the Swordmaster of Bravely Default.
He could have comboes that put him in a counter stance, to reduce damage from one type of attack and unleashing a powerful counter after that.

I still think the best course of action would be to make Samurai a base class and give it two job crystals. Yojimbo for tank and Ronin for DPS. Everyone is happy.

Since they're not happy about the branching of Arcanist, I really doubt they'll do that. In fact, I'm starting to feel that classes will soon disappear. They mentionned in the fanfest that they'll make Role actions for everything that is mandatory (Provoke, Swiftcast, etc...). If they do that, the whole idea of cross-classing will lose what little interest it's currently having.

And if you don't cross-class anymore...you don't need classes.
