it's actually not that much and probably includes marketing budget. FF XV currently shows how you can sink insane amounts of money without the game gaining one bit from it. like, getting the priciest voice actors, just because you can.

of course, the meta is "triple the content!!!", which is exactly what pr wants you to hear out of it. i can promise you, it won't be like that.

It probably covers the entire fiscal year so that is all the money for wages/servers/ads/maintenance of the game including content patches until the next fiscal year. The trailer will probably cost a couple million already.

I would just like to point out once again that there has been no confirmation of this amount. The information came from another post on the forum, but when the OP was asked about his source said (emphasis is my own, obvs):

Apparently the figure is from the JP private page and the quote will be release to the public English page in 5 days time. In a weeks time we'll have an easily souracable link or its proven false

So it seems the OP who stated this amount hasn't actually seen it from anywhere official. I was looking through the SE Japanese investor page and couldn't find any mention of this quote, though of course it may have been in some sort of private email to an actual investor. Maybe the original forum post should be edited to make clear that the 35 million isn't official?

Still, it would be awesome if they really were spending that amount of money on SB!

Not being able to read Japanese I haven't been able to verify it but apparently in a earnings report to shareholders it indicated that the 4.0 expansion budget was $35 million. If they are doing an overhaul of their server infrastructure, a far amount of that money might be going into that.

I was on the Japanese version of their Investor Relations site and found no mention in any of the reports about the expansion. Though perhaps there is another site/section where you have to prove that you are a shareholder rather than just being able available for anyone on the internet?
