Yes, I loved the excuse to explore the map properly and take everything in from the ground. It gives a whole different impression from simply flying over everything which you'll end up doing anyways. I agree that removing the currents tied to quests would be a very good idea, albeit for that I'd say put currents in some obscure locations like they did INITIALLY. None of this silly moving them around again much later just so they're "easier" to stumble across along the quest-route.

It is always very awkward when the crowd is cold during a live presentation. I did not purchase a ticket to watch it through streaming but if what the OP says is true yes it's awkward and it makes it awkwaard for the viewer too. I'm surprised he didn't reveal 1 new job. Does this mean we will not ahve 3 new jobs but 2? Who knows. I expected a name revealing and the video teaser and i got exactly that plus some info wasn't a bad reveal for me considering how early it is.

I dunno - you can explore it on foot either way, if you wanted to.

SE only does this because they know that the overworld becomes irrelevant cardboard scenery the moment flying is unlocked and you can ignore every mob, every ledge, every turn and every obstacle of the overworld. They really just want you to look at it once and see they actually did something, because as soon as flying is unlocked, they might as well not and have run a random generator for the terrain instead.

Wasn't it already confirmed ages ago that they weren't going to repeat the 3.0 method, and that we would only get 2 jobs with 4.0, and a third sometime during the 4.x cycle?

No, that's not what they said. Yoshi said that they wouldn't do a new job in an update followed by 3 more jobs in the expansion not even 1 year later. The only we have on the number of jobs in Stormblood is his declaration during the ranger event last summer.
